  1. Had sooooo much fun with carbines the other day. We had one stage that had a very awkward shooting position for most people. On that stage, after the LAMR command was given, the shooter asked if they could take a sight picture and of course it was granted. They'd then get into that position to see what worked for them since most people don't practice this stuff. Sometimes it took awhile, upwards of 2 minutes for them to get it ironed out. Then they'd have to get back to the start position and get to it. Almost everyone took advantage of that and as the RO's and MD's, we said more power to them! And in the end, it didn't really amount to any noticable increase in time to complete the overall match. We were still done normal time. There was a 2 shooter back up when we arrived and we left before the next squad arrived. If it was going to make a difference in clearance times and end match times, it would have been most evident right there and then. Even had time to screw arround a little on that stage.
  2. The 'contest' was mentioned as a complete joke. No one was serious about doing it and as far as I know, I'm the only one that did it because we were gonna be waiting anyway so I figured I'd have a little fun with it and my friends who I was shooting with. That's why we shoot matches, to have fun. No one got bent out of shape because all it was was an open invitation by me to invite ridicule towards me which is always a good time. No one there cared then nor do they now short of possably being entertained by all the controversy it's generated granted the real hypothetical exists. But if we're talking about the hypothetical and this video, let's talk about it. OK, so it took me 73 seconds to finally get to it. 73 seconds it added to one guy who was screwing around. Let's say that you knew what was happening as it was happening. Are you going to potentially cause more time to be wasted and added onto everyone elses day over 73 seconds? Is 73 seconds worth of squirreling around enough to generate a weeks worth of conversations about? I'll tell you from first hand experience, 73 seconds on the LAMR is a loooooooooooong time from the maker of ready's perspective. I was there forever! You think it's actually going to turn into a problem now? Not likely. Tell you what we've done though. If someone looks like they might be having an issue or isn't ready, we do the obvious thing. We ask them. "Hey, do you want to be bumped down or are you good?" And then you can ask the other guys "Hey, would you be ready to go or do you need time?". It's strange how all you have to do is communicate with others, it's it's like instant problem solved. Worst case senario, you wait a little bit but that's something we're all used to doing right? Waiting. It's all we do all day at matches is stand around and wait hours to get your 2 minutes of shooting in. We used to have this one guy here, great guy and everyone loved him, but he would chronically not pay attention. His attention span just wasn't there sometimes. Wouldn't have his mags loaded, didn't know what the stage procedure was, wasn't sure about a plan, that kind of thing. It happened so often that we'd joke with him as he walked up to the line "Hey you got your mags loaded?" It was halarious that he would go 'oh shute' and turn around and go load his mags. And he was the last shooter in the squad! Great guy and it was funny! No one got upset or anything, we just went along with it and joked about it. It was kinda worth it just to see what would happen or funny to watch him shoot a few rounds in a mag and go dry only to look inquisically at his blaster wondering why it stopped working. Entertainment is everywhere; sometimes it's you, sometimes it's me, sometimes it's the other guy. But it's the reason I don't sit at home on Sundays watching TV being antisocial. 73 seconds, 90 seconds, 120 seconds, I don't care. It's material for comedy in the making. You can enjoy it and have a good time or get all mad about it and not enjoy yourself in which case, why not go find something you can enjoy? Too much seriousness in this world, we don't need any more. I mean, non of this really matters anyway so why get bent out of shape about it? That's why it sucks to shot on the male god squad at Nationals cause everyone cares too damn much (so I've been told). We're there to have fun remember? Let's put the fun back in shooting. If it wasn't fun it'd be work and who the hell wants to work for free? Not this guy. Tomorrow, I'm gonna go have me some fun with a carbine, how about you?
  3. We're all friends here and everyone knows everyone. That isn't even close to amount of fun we all have at each others expense. You guys should come out to shoot with us sometimes, it's as entertaining as spending Christmas day with family. Always a good time! Hell, you should have been there for the stage 1 debugging.
  4. Well luckily we're not all that high strung and can actually relax and have fun with what we're doing as well as each other. I mean lord forbid we actually get in a hurry to clear a fast stage and then wait for the next squad to clear their stage which was significantly longer. And let's for a minute ignore the fact that we all had to stay until after the match to set up for next weeks TacRifle match anyway. But I'm sure that had no bearing on anything and I should be DQ'd anyway for providing comic relief. Bad Emanuel for having fun and wasting a whole 45 seconds, bad!
  5. The ironic part is, it screwed me up. I was paying more attention to trying to waste as much time as possable rather than what I was about to do. So much for that classifier.
  6. Hey, it was a complicated stage.
  7. I understand what he was refering to, I just don't get why it's supposed to be funny.
  8. What would truely shake things up is if RedBull came in and sponsored shooters and events. Anything they've backed has taken off leaps and bounds.
  9. End result will be that there will be more compitition up top in Production now and the more people you have pushing the envelope, the further it will take it as a whole. Most all new shooters start in Production because it's inline with what they might already have, believe in if they carry or straight economics. That's why it's slowly becoming the dominant division. Either way, they'll see these top shooters racing a Production gun like they've never seen before and not knowing any better, they'll think that's the standard they'll need to aspire to and will ramp up far quicker than someone that started when the group as a whole moved slower. Happens everywhere, sportbikes, motocross, snowboarding, skateboarding, freestyle skiing, jet skiing, gymnastics, etc. We have a handful of newer Production shooters that went from sucking when they started 1.5 years ago to being serious threats today and are A's and M's. People are doing today in practice what was not acheivable in compitition a few years ago and they're doing it faster. If we get guys shooting Production guns like they shoot Limited or Open guns, the skill level as a whole gets raised and everyone benifits. Todays B class shooters were last decades A class shooters. By the way, I don't know what he's talking about either.
  10. A streetbike is still practical for everyday use unless it's a BMW 1000RR or Ducati 749 or something. Then again you'd race out a vespa and slap some silliness into a GSXR liter bike.
  11. I bought a gun and practiced with it to make sure I knew how to use it. I took classes and eventually I began to shot IDPA and then later USPSA to bring my skill level up. First time my friend, girlfriend and I went to a USPSA type indoor match to get a taste for it was ridiculous. We showed up off the street just as we where and they nearly had a heart attack to find that we were hot, concealed and ready to rock. There were nothing but Limited and Open guns. Not a single one of them carried their guns or even thought about it or could even if they wanted. All they could do was shoot some super duper space age raced out pistol that wouldn't do them any good in the real world and wouldn't know how to shoot a real gun to save their lives, literally. They tried to make us feel like we didn't know what we were doing and dangerous even though we out shot every one but one guy. Even my GF made them look like idiots and they tried to tell her she was going too fast. I felt sorry for them, I still do. I have no want to shoot some specialized gun. I want to shoot limited and open as much as drive an Indy or funny car to work and back every day. If it's not practical, it's worthless. You want to go fast but the only reason you can do it is because the equipment let's you, not because you're that good.
  12. I wanted to clarify this Chuck. The rules on the CTC site say "4.3 Participants must use the same firearms (handgun, rifle and shotgun) for the entire event." which contradicts what you said. There are other contradictions in Section 4 - Firearms. Can we please get clarification.
  13. Nope, not me. As someone else pointed out to me, there are other more expensive hobbies like racing bikes or cars. At least I can afford to race guns.
  14. I bet if I took the time to add it all up, I would match that number give or take a few grand.
  15. Ya but Scott was pretty on with the typical internet responses that come up with this kind of thing and why I don't typically ask to many questions.
  16. You're right of course Chuck & Scott, if it's not fit then I'm just throwing away money. That was some pretty entertaining internet advice there!
  17. I gotcha. Before I started shooting compitition I shot groups and still practice shooting groups at 25 and need to start again at 50. Recently stated shooting them one handed at 25 as well. The only thing that bugs me about the Glock is that it's not that strong in that regard and sometimes I know I was holding and pressing well, but the round didn't go where the sights were. Last weekend I shot a Steel Challenge match and intend to shoot more of that and thinking about Bianchi. You're right, it's good enough for IDPA/USPSA matches. I also have a bunch of moly and lead that I'll be using for practice so I'll be getting a traditionally rifled barrel anyway, just trying to fix it's accuracy while I'm at it.
  18. Thanks Whitefish, I don't really know much about Jarvis barrels. I'll have to look them up.
  19. Speak for yourself. I've had multiple people on here and else where now confirm that groups get down to 1 - 1.5" at 25 and 4 and under at 50. Who said anything about being competitive? Seems like you've got some axe to grind.
  20. Thanks whitefish, that's good info. I've been very happy with Barsto's myself fit in Sig's but one thing I found was that they were on aveage 40fps faster. When I compared a Storm Lake M&P barrel against stock I found the SL was 10fsp slower. I wonder if the KKM has a noticable fps change as well and if so in what direction.
  21. I'm hoping there is someone here with the skills and practical experience to tell me if replacing a Glock factory barrel with a Barsto will actually do something for it's accuracy or are the tolerances of the pistol just too loose all around? What I'm not looking for is how awesome a KKM/Lonewolf/whatever barrel is or how great the Glocks accuracy all ready is. Background. I've been shooting a Sig for years and years. I've been able to get under 2" with those barrels and it's consistently easier with a Barsto. I've even gotten under 1" a few times. I've never been able to get much better than 2.5" with a Glock. I also need to get something in there to practice with moly/plated/lead and of course Barsto is the first choice but as far as accuracy goes, will it actually make a difference? If not, I may as well get something else that isn't as expensive with long wait times. Thanks for your collective help.
  22. Your best bet is to send those parts out to have them done by one of the two people that have done a great many for the people here. I had mine done by Crums and very happy. Turn around was pretty fast as well.
  23. Why are you a member period when you don't take advantage of it? And why hasn't your club had any classifiers in years? That's a problem.
  24. Seriously, where the hell did all that talk come from? We want to attract people, not scare them away. Talk about the exact wrong direction to go.
