  1. I was gonna get screws with a low profile button head to replace the grip screws - thought about just taking the frame to the hardware store ;) I can't answer your question, but I can pose another one - what's the grip screw size?

  2. My current thought on laptop is buy cheap, and save data somewhere safe. Office Depot has these $429 Toshibas. Carry it, use it, backup your data regularly to something in the apt or dorm room, and if it breaks or gets stolen you're not totally screwed. BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP - that's gonna be the key to whatever you get.

  3. I have had light strikes and feeding issues. The light strikes were on my Limited (lighter hammer spring) and Match (lighter hammer spring) but on my second match, that's bone stock, it would ignite maybe 90%...that's still one fail to fire per mag. Feeding issues I could not get over - polished the ramp and all the typical things. Overall it's good for having trigger time and the forum member who sold it to me was generous on his price, so I'm not out a lot. But if you want to shoot a reliable 22lr, get a Ruger. :D If you want to get trigger time on your EAA and you're willing to accept or work through the problems, get the conversion.

  4. Depends what caliber and what gun. I'm loading on SDB and hadn't had problems until I got a 40S&W and tried to stuff 20 rounds in my mag (EAA Limited). Using a U-die is the only way I could make my rounds feed with that many in there due to tolerance stack up (without it, my rounds were 0.002" larger at the base than the top, over 20 rounds, that's a big angle). It's important enough that I'm single staging all my brass before I even get to the press. Maybe it doesn't matter for your application. Then again, maybe it does.

  5. If you're looking at the plastic guns and are going to shoot in production, I would go with 9mm for a couple reasons

    -cheaper - even when reloading

-you'll still make minor power factor

    -generally less recoil

If you like your Springfield Loaded (assuming 45acp) shoot it in Single Stack or L-10. I only ran my Springfield in L-10 for the first couple years of shooting USPSA on and off. Then I shot a few matches in Production with my XD-9 Tactical (mostly stock except put Dawson sights). Now I'm playing Limited with a EAA Limited.

You can take the advise that I always give that I don't follow myself: spend money on training and ammo in the begining, not more guns and more widgetry. Becoming a better shooter and getting used to the matches is where you'll have value down the road.

    Good luck!

  6. In December I was measured at 19ug/dl - nurse practitioner on campus is a clear antigunner - said quit my job at the range (that I only work 2 shifts a month) and stop shooting altogether. Sigh...so I'm doing Enymatics Heavy Metal Cleanse supplimented with a fiber suppliment and multivitamins. I'll be done with a 30 day cycle in 6 days and will get re-tested. Also threw out my old tumbling media and am more careful about wiping down after the range and stripping in my doorway, bagging the clothes I wore to the range. I'll post my results when I get 'em.

  7. No wonder when I tried the 800 number that's saved in my phone, it didn't work. Good thing you've got the regular number so we can still bug you! ;) Hope it gets back up and running soon for people who need to hit the 800 number.

  8. Great article. When can we expect some 40HW? With my Limited, it's night and day using a U-die versus not. I'm just using range brass, so without the U-die nosedives with only 12-15 rounds in the mag. With the U-die, 20-21 rounds no problem! :D I measured my loaded ammo at the mouth and base - without the U-die it was 0.002" difference in diameter. After 20 rounds the tolerance stackup (mechanical engr friend gave me that one) I was having the top round dip down by 0.040" - which is the difference between a gun that runs, and a lot of fun with malfunction drills. USPSA Open and Limited really push the envelope - you gotta have EVERYTHING dialed in right to run. Good brass makes good ammo makes for a good day of shooting.

  9. Yeah, Henning's forum topics are always the ones near the top of this subsection too - it's because some dealers have forums on here just to have presence or have their name associated with the BE Forums - but Henning really uses this place, and he's kind enough to share his home on the web with us to not only discuss what he's selling, but to support the brand as a whole! :D [/end ass kissing]

  10. When I first started reloading I did my first 100 rounds in only 4 hours. I got done and shot them and though "wow, this is awesome!". Then a buddy and I bought a SDB together - that was AWESOME!

I use a vibraprime and load my primer tubes while watching tv, then go and load 500 at a time - takes a shade over an hour at the machine, but I always double check my charge and COL when I start and visually inspect each case to make sure it's got powder before placing the bullet. 10's of thousands of rounds loaded and 1 squib so far.

  11. I understand all feelings but agree that nobody gets DQ'ed. They earn it or DQ themselves. The RO just delivers the message. Don't kill the messenger!

That's the real fact of the matter.

But another good one - a group of myself and 3 buddies drove up to a match. Two of them are ROs and we all squad together. One has to DQ the guy who drove all of us to the match for over running a target and breaking the 180. We gave both of them a hard time, but it was all taken in stride. I think it was harder for the RO to give the DQ than the shooter to accept it.

  12. i went up to the mc shop tonite and we are doing a 20lpi sharp diamond checkering. The grips will be checkered, then colored. Pepsi Blue will look really cool.

Jim, for ur match, I already have those. Get the Satin and build up with putty and grip tape.

    PICTURES!!!

Thanks for the 20% offer Henning - your grips are gonna kick ass!

  13. I've only had a problem once - coming back from Florida of all places. Airline told me that I would have to put a locked box in my locked large pelican case. I explained how I was just trying to get home flying with my gear in the same condition I flew to florida with on their airline. I had my printouts of the TSA requirements, and she said TSA has nothing to do with it, it's an arrangement with their airline and the FAA. It was ridiculous! Finally after about an hour, the station manager gave in - sheesh, it was just a power play, because if it was truly breaking TSA or FAA regulation there's no way it would've been allowed at all.

These guys all have great advice. My little addition is just get to the airport with a little more time, just in case you get hassled, you won't also miss your flight.

  14. just chrono'ed 7.55 silhoutte behind a 124 cmj mg. out of 10 rounds was getting a good 166pf with a 5" with marvel comp. a little too close for comfort so i am going to bump up to 7.65 and see how that feels.

    Dave,

Are you using rifle reloading equipment to get to the 0.01 grain accuracy? Or when you say "7.55" is that like something between 7.5 and 7.6 on a 0.1 grain accuracy beam scale? I'm lucky if my SDB throws +/-0.1 grains of anything.

  15. What kind of camera are you using? If you're using an SLR or have the ability to adjust the aperture - a higher F-stop number will give you more depth of field - specifically in the third shot of the first post - more depth of field would make the picture much more striking. Shooting off a tripod is also a big help especially if using a small ap (high F-stop number).
