Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. You will need to get 38sc dies along with the 223 shell plate, because 9mm dies are tapered were as 38sc dies are straight walled same as 38 super. The 38sc conversion kit comes with the shell plate in the kit. IMO, I would spend the extra for the kit that way you get everything you need. As for the case feeder 9mm & 38sup/sc use the same plate. Suggest that you also get the quick change setup that makes caliber changes a lot easier so you are not having to readjust the powder measure & dies between calibers. Set it and forget it.
  2. I have a SJC Open Glock and a STI Grandmaster that I store them in they're original factory boxes when not in use. And I use gun sleeves and range bags for matches.
  3. I have had a SJC gun since 2007. Mine was one of the early ones before the screws in slide plate. I had to have the barrel replaced and John completely rebuilt the top end for me that included comp, barrel, extractor w/adj screws, striker. Two of the three allen screws are to hold the plate tight to the slide. The one for the extractor is for adjustment. To remove the plate from the slide you need to count the number of turns on the extractor screw to loosen and then loosen the other two. Keep track of your count on the extractor screw, because you need that count to tighten that screw for the proper tension of the extractor when shooting 9major. The comp can not be removed unless the barrel is being replaced. You have to clean the slide and barrel the best that you can with the barrel still in the slide. I would'nt worry to much about the comp as long as you're shooting jacketed bullets. Cleaning of the comp should only take wiping a cleaning patch with solvent through the ports. I reload for mine and cleaning is fairly easy. I just run a rope snake through the barrel 3 to 4 times after shooting. The only time I strip mine down completely to clean is if I shoot some dirty shooting powder reloads or cheap factory 9mm ammo. Otherwise I shoot it like I do some of my other Glocks.

    Reliablity?

I bought one of the PXT P16-40's right after they first hit the market in 2005 for a limited gun.I put about 2k to 3k rnds through it and was having some FTF/FTE. I had some minor tuning done to the extractor hook and since then the gun runs without any problems with about 5k-7k rnds on the original power extractor now. I've change to a Doug Koenig hammer & EGW sear so that the is lighter and shorter reset than factory. I shoot my Para when I want to take a break from my Glocks. The Para's are a nice gun to start with for the budget minded.
  5. I have one of the first PXT P16's when they first came out. I started having the same feed problems shooting and when RO's say make ready at the start of the stage with mine after about 3k-4k rounds.I've shot lead, moly coated, and jacketed through mine. I finally had to change my recoil spring after about 4k or 5k rounds. I put a Wolf 18.5lb spring in and the issue has stopped. How many rounds does the recoil spring have on it? I shoot the following out of mine: Berry's 180 FP jacketed 4.6gr Tight Group Mixed Headstamp Brass OAL 1.125 I also shoot this same load through a Glock 24 & 22
  6. I have a SJC Open 9mm gun that was orignally a G35. The mags that I used in it for limited are at least 4 yrs old. I am now using those same mags in a G24 without any issues. Are these 2nd gen or 3rd gen mags.
  7. The comp on my SJC open gun started coming loose at a match 2 weeks ago in Colorado. When I called them to ask about a fix for it they told me to reseat it using Hi-Temp Red Loctite #272. This is what they started using on all of the guns that they are building 6 months ago. And they have not had any issues with their comps since.
  8. This may sound like a dumb question, but what is the earliest that we can send in our applications for the first lotto draw.
  9. I found out today from the guy that runs the indoor range that shoot IDPA at that Tom Novak has shut down and is no longer in business. I'm guessing that he shut down his shop when his web site went down.
