  1. Jamie...

Mike, Mike, FTE on the Friday dinner.

Saturday was great and George O's!!!!

Squad 10 was a ton of fun! Take a bow folks!

    Barrett

YES....Yesss IT wass funn B) .... I almost got a DQ over that Ice Tee thing though, Did you get to see how fast Forrest moved when he saw the glass full coming at him?

Haha...that was a close one. I've never seen him shoot, but if he moves that fast everyone better look out.

  2. I have only been part of this sport for 9 months, and stories like this make me glad to be part of such a great community. I've met so many good people in this sport, and they have always been honest and willing to help out in any way, shape, or form. I absolutely love this sport and all of the great people associated with it. I've never met Nemo personally, but this goes to show that there are GREAT people out there.

    Way to go Nemo.

  3. It may depend on which caliber you are asking about. I have 9MM mags with 5 & 6 molded in the follower and 45 mags with a different shaped follower and a 2 beside the Glock on the back.

    .40

IIRC, the newest mags have #8 followers.

EDIT: My 4th generation 9mm mags have #6 followers, but my 3rd generation .40 mags have #8 followers.

  4. I just got a 34, and I'm thinking about going with the Dawson fixed rear with the Dawson BLACK front. I have a Sevigny rear and Dawson FO front on my G35 and love it. Just want to try something different.

Anybody have experience with the Dawson fixed rear?

  5. I went to the range today and had 2 FTF. I am starting to think it might be because of my guide rod. It has a groove forming toward the muzzle end (I didn't buy it so not sure if it comes with the groove, but guessing not). I'm running a tungsten rod with a 15# ISMI spring. When I got it, it had the tungsten rod with a 13# ISMI. Here are some pics of the rod:

  6. Troy or anyone that can answer my question.

Do we have to register on September 10 between 9am - 12pm? I can't find a flight out of Detroit to get me in Tulsa early enough for the registration window.

I don't want to leave Detroit on the September 9th if there isn't going to be any shooting on the 10th because with another day of work missed, extra hotel, rental car and food I'm looking at another $400.

Please let me know if we can register the morning of the match.

    Regards.

I was wondering the same thing about LPR Nats for school purposes.....

  7. Ross, did you ever replace your "20 round" mag springs? I think you said those were the ones that were involved in the jams you had at Double Tap.

I did replace the bad spring, but I still had one jam with that magazine when I was at the range. I had even taken the magwell off the gun when it jammed.

  8. I don't have a G24, but a G35. I went to the range yesterday, and had the exact same thing happen to me. Mike, did you ever figure out what was going on? or did it just work itself out? I have a bunch of pics of multiple jams if anyone wants to see them for clarification. All advice is appreciated.

  9. Don't have first hand knowledge on Luminox, although I understand it's a decent timepiece. I've got a Swiss Army that I've beaten for 15 years and still runs like a champ.

Find what you want and google the model number for those who carry them.

I got a Luminox from Cabelas for Christmas last year. I knew I wanted one, and I love mine so far. Lights up really bright in the dark, I think it's even brighter than my previous timex.

  10. Ross is a swingin' bachelor  No emery boards laying around, I'm sure ;) (but easily found at the grocery store or whatever...)

Haha...you got that right. I'm only 19 Chris I hope I got a few more years to go...

Thanks for the info though...I'll have to go buy one.

  11. I had similar problems when I switched to extended pads for Glock. Ended up cleaning up the insides of the mags and then they worked. Little pieces of plastic and metal from the holes in mags. You did have a good grip on the gun. Looked like you kept your cool thru the problems. I might make it out to ALSPPC. I normally go to Bullethole, but it's a longer drive.

    Mike

Hey Mike- What did you do to clean out the mags? I have the same thing inside of mine.

    Thanks

    Ross

  12. Anyone want to try a go at a reservation for dinner - after DTC08 - this could be crazy! Anyone want to name a good place to eat?

George's - Home of the Big O beer and best chicken fried steak in town. I know about half the people that work there, so it shouldn't be too hard to get in, and they have a big party room. It's only about 5 minutes from the hotel.

Buzzard Billy's - really good cajun food.

Even closer to the hotel, on the same exit.

    A few others too...

  13. Dave:

I noticed how small my step were too, it felt like I was moving a lot faster than I was. I'll to work on some drills for stretching out my steps.

I really think that taking my weak hand off the gun will help a lot too. I didn't really notice till you said something, but I don't think I ever took my hand off the gun except for a reload.

Mike: It was great getting to meet you and shoot with you. Thanks for the support, and hope to shoot with you soon.

Either of y'all going to ALSPPC this weekend?

  14. Hmmmm....old mag springs won't make those mags fall out. You gotta big mag release button on that gun ???

At least I think it is the mag springs. I was having problems with a failure to feed. One of the mag springs is second hand with an arredondo +5 basepad. This was the mag that gave me the most trouble. I do have an extended mag release, but probly not for long after this weekend.

Watching it again, it sure seems like you are having issues beyond mag springs. Gauging the ammo in the actual chamber is a good idea (take the barrel out of the gun). It seems like a few pounds heavier on the recoil spring might help in feeding too (assuming the extractor is properly tuned).

I am using factory WWB ammo with a tungsten guide rod and 13 lb. ISMI spring. I got the 15 lb. ISMI spring in a few days before the match, but didn't want to change anything that late.

Sorry to keep preaching on that, but bringing "stuff that works" is the number one thing on my list of things to do to perform well.

The shooting looked pretty solid. You look smooth and in control. That comes of as deliberate, but i don't think I'd change that. Just keep on paying attention.

I feel like I'm getting used to the gun, I've only been shooting it since January.

    EDIT:spelling

  15. I shot my first major this past weekend at the Double Tap Championship. Other than mag problems, I think I shot a pretty solid match. I ended up getting 2nd in unclassified Limited, which I didn't expect at all. I got all of my hits except two mikes for the whole match. One thing I noticed from the videos, was that I was moving a lot slower than it felt when I was shooting the stages.

Let me know what you think.
