  1. Have you checked firing pin hole in the breechface, it should not to have sharp burrs or something like that ? What magazines are you using ? What bullet and col you use ? Do you crimp ? Is it a bullet, not the case mouth jamming to the hood ?
  2. Thank you ! That is very good info. How about powder density ? I assume your load is compressed, can you compare it to for example 3N38, more compression or less ?
  3. Has anyone used AA #7 for 9mm Major ? HS-6 has been one of my favourites, do not like to use faster stuff. My new gun will have 4.15" barrel, propably gonna use 124gr bullets. 3N38 is not an option, can not use it in Dillon 1050 without spilling and it creates pretty uneven col.
  4. Where you buy S&B primers in USA ? SPM was my favorite 9mm Major-primer - no problems (about 20k used) with extended firing pin, DK hammer + 17 lbs spring.
  5. Extended firing pin is excellent item, if you have pretty light like 15 lbs mainspring and hard, like small rifle, primers. Yes, Matchmaster has extended pin as standard, as Trubor and Grandmaster also. I guess, they will not put it into every gun, because if you drop the gun muzzle first it will go BANG little easier.
  6. My gun makes PF 170 with HS-6 7,8 grains. It has Trubor T2 barrel but little tighter chamber (= not a factory gun). Bullet Hornady 124gr, brass Remington, primer CCI 500 and 1.170"
  7. I understand AR-15 rifles can not be imported back to US, but what about a sporting non-mil-spec AR-15 rifle made in Finland where is no AR-15 marking and no "evil" features like this : Parts are even black all round, evening sun is just doing it's tricks to camera...
  8. There is a statement in ATF website : What this means, or if it still valid ? I can not take my AR-15 rifles and hi-cap magazines for pistols / rifles with me ?
  9. My SP-01 Shadow has 13 lbs mainspring from Angus. Have never had any malfunctions with CCI #500 primers or any other brand. In SA gun mainspring has little to do with trigger pull weight. Put 15-16 lbs spring if you feel the problem is mainspring.
  10. Tested different bullet weights some time ago in 9mm Major. My gun has Trubor T2 barrel with 2x3mm hybrid holes and slide weight 280 grams. It may feel different in a different kind of gun... Good thing : you can make heavier bullets (147) make major with less pressure compared to for example 124gr, if you use same powder (I use HS-6). Bad thing : dot takes much more time to come back to center of the screen. Recoil with heavy bullet is also not so constant. I felt my dot was going to all directions at the same time First planned to practice with heavy bullets (=less powder, lower pressure and harder to shoot) but it was too different for me. I planned to test some 130-135 grain bullets, but dropped them because of experience with 147gr. Same thing with 9mmx19 factory ammo also : recoil is really soft, but I still shoot much faster with Major-ammo that will return the dot back to center much faster. Shortly : with this expereience do not recommend bullets over 125 grains.
  11. For .357 Sig, it is especially important to seat bullet in two separate stages. Long 160-180gr bullets usually used for major PF are much longer than the bottleneck case neck. Short neck make start pressure much lower. Specially, when compared to situation where whole bullet bearing surface would be contacting case, like when you have straight walled case. Generally, it is much more difficult to maintain even start pressure from shot to shot with .357 Sig. Even a slight bulge in neck (=often caused by 1-stage bullet seating) can result in huge pressure / barrel time / muzzle velocity variation. Shortly : I recommend 2-stage bullet seating
  12. Thank you for information ! It is nice to have matches ~10 kilometers away from home ! After all, would not like to wait 6,5 years before can go practicing every day near home...
  13. Thank you guys ! There seem to be lots of matches nearby, great ! Since used to practice in days ~100 a year, it would be very interesting to know if there is available shooting range nearby ?
  14. Hi ! We are planning to move to US. One (biggest) possibility is Boulder, Colorado. My (and my wife's too) main interests would be IPSC/USPSA rifle and pistol disciplines. Just thought to find out, if there is someone here how could tell something about possibilities to practice and shoot matches there Have not yet decided even if we will move or not, but first things first Best Regards, Hannu Uronen
