  1. I thought _that_ was a common-knowledge side effect of the high burn temps. Perhaps I'm just biased because we have a local who likes to spread the story of his miscues attempting to feed titegroup to a wheelgun. So everyone knows it in my shooting circle.
  2. Now we know what purpose Team SIG might have actually served. Had to establish durability and popularity for the new kid on the block in a hurry.
  3. TG is widely known for this. Being a dual-base powder it's burn temperature is very high. This is the same reason it causes much more smoke that cooler-burning powders under leads round, or the oldschool moly-coated bullets.
  4. Reminder: Do your reps with those weights again today.
  5. My rearmost magazine is about an inch further around my back now. Had to spread them all apart a bit more. Saving real estate on a 34" belt is the reason I went to bullets-out in the first place. Unlike SCTaylor... two months worth of dryfire still didn't find me as consistent. Switching back took me all of ten minutes of dryfire. I shot bullets-forward with lots of dryfire practice from 2007-2016, an apparently I really do prefer that setup.
  6. For years my IDPA gear was a comp-tac belt holster and two ready tactical magazine carriers, though. Both companies make excellent stuff if you're not after USPSA gear.
  7. Definitely. @Kingman here on BEnos. I run his dual layer holster body for USPSA on a boss (Ben Stoeger) hanger. Most rigid production setup out there. Went with the old standby blade-tech body first and had to heat it up with a heat gun to even get my Stock 3 into it.
  8. Hey, I look forward to hearing the results. But I just spent roughly $1,500 getting rid of a polymer framed match gun. So watching someone else grab a plastic Tanfo is interesting. Aside from the trigger mechanism and higher level of accuracy, the extra weight to is one of the 40+ ounce Tanfoglios key advantages over 24 oz of polymer.
  9. So it sounds like it's not a carry piece by any stretch, it's a match gun and competition sized. So once again... why would you want one instead of the heavier Stock II? Weight is a benefit in a competition gun.
  10. It's known as the ogive of the bullet, and you're exactly right about the cause. No two bullet profiles will hit the rifling at exactly the same overall length.
  11. You act like I'm the new kid. I used to do an insane amount of dry practice with the M&P... so this is all familiar territory. However, it *is* the first time I've switched guns. Figured it would be a good idea to regress to the biggest gaping weakness in my skills with the new gun, and progress from there.
  12. I'll begin practicing moving loads in a few weeks, of course, but I am micro-focused on two things right now: 1) A faster accurate stationary draw & DA shot 2) A clean, crisp static load. Those are the low hanging fruit: the glaring holes in my game. If a guy's blistering-fast 0.9 sec standing load is consistent, his moving ones usually don't suck too badly, even if they aren't jaw dropping.
  13. How deep into the ceiling will the gun bury a pencil when equipped with your grips?
  14. Working on DA trigger presses to 10yd simulated plates in dryfire. Mag changes still aren't speedy, but there's definite progress when compared to the match video posted above.
  15. Update: I'm determined to improve my first shot times and to learn to feed this thing. As an experiment I switched back to bullets-forward from bullets-out, which resulted in an instant gain in consistency. First mag pouch has a rake to align with my forearm, the rest are vertical. I'll practice hard with this for the two weeks until my next match.
  16. So... he took his ball and he went home. On a technical note, it was around three weeks ago now that we were told that Grams would need 6-8 weeks to have a sharpened and functional reamer. Apparently he's also having a second one made so this won't happen again.
  17. Don't forget to shout "Olé!" next time, Spanish bullfighter style.
  18. Check the weight carefully. The witness steel compact and witness compact P are only 2 ounces worth of difference.
  19. Don't tell your IDPA guys that you reshaped your magwell. You will be ostrascized from the Tactical Plumber community. Been there, done that, for similar tweaks. They probably won't check the rule book before 'knowing' it's illegal.
  20. And sure, you can shorten your OAL and play around a bit and develop a workable load, but I'm fond of things like Clays behind a 147, where you want all the case volume you can get!
  21. My chamber seems noticeably looser since sending the barrel to Bevin. Like my Glock and M&P factory barrels. Still shoots just as tight a group. I didn't have to worry about that being a variable when setting up my gun. If it's short enough to fit into my mags and passes a case gauge, my gun will eat it happily. I don't regret doing it.
  22. Of course I'm not. ...The bar in IDPA has simply been that low. But then, where's your video? You've had quite the mouth here on BEnos lately.
