  1. $41/100 http://www.mgmtargets.com/products/paper.shtml
  2. Not looking for anything Match grade, 250-300 meter full silhouette targets, blasting ammo to have fun with. 16 M-4 barrel.
  3. Not fond of the "local match" syndrome, I've seen some of the same things with the exception of the safety. That would have been an automatic ticket home. If not, I would be done for the day (won't shoot with idiots like that) and the MD and myself would be having a talk to correct the situation. If not, then the club directors would be notified as to the unsafe actions be practiced and allowed to happen on their range. Safety violations should NEVER be tolerated, especially when someone is downrange. It is no fun to look up and see the business end of a weapon.
  4. Never happen, but I would support it. You can get promoted by winning above your class at an AREA or above match however.
  5. In my last post I was not trying to get going on the sandbagging issue, even though I know it happens and makes me mad to. I was trying to convey that the clasification system does not truly evaluate ones capabilities. On classifiers its pretty much cut and dry, you WILL do this and WILL NOT do that. However, during matches there are tons of ways to run a course, some courses move you 5 yards, some 30 yards. They need to write a new book and have MOVEMENT, doors, swingers (not like you don't see a bunch of those at a major), drop turners, maybe even throw in a star. Make it a course, an honest no BS evaluation. As for the money part, like HSMITH said, I could care less about it, I would rather have a lower match fee, honest competetion, a good time and maybe walking away with some bragging rights.
  6. I agree with the thread title! To be competeitve at a major match you will have to shoot AT LEAST 1 class higher than your own to win your class (for the typical A,B,C shooter anyway). Some matches are more in line with the percentages, but most are not, just check the results page and you will see it. As for me, my last 2 on file are 84 and 87, yet I'm an open "C" . I set up front sight, el prez last week and ran them for 87 and 90%. Now at a match there is no way I can run with the M's and GM's. To slow on transitions and movement through the course I guess. So I guess it depends on what you want to do. Be able to say you're an M or GM or be in the running to maybe win something at a match. To be honest I wish that all Level II matches and above with more tham 3 GM's in a division would HAVE to count towards classification, no option. As the rules read right now "Please note that there is no gaurantee that the overall results will be used. As a minimum requirement, the results and competitor list will be reviewed at the USPSA office to determine whether enough top shooters completed the match and performed at a level high enough to be considered a national standard." So, how many is "enough"? What level is "high" enough? I still dont know what I'm going to do. Hmmmmmm, hang out in C or B or shoot for "Master" by X-mas.
  7. Just got back from the match and had a great time in spite of the timing issue. Whoever designed that wheel is an EVIL man but, the courses were fun and pretty much straight forward. It had been three years since I shot down there and it was nice to go back. Scores could have been better but we were pushing and walked the stages maybe twice before shooting them. Shooting 9 stages in 4 hours was on the verge of work but our squad busted ass and got it done, squad 11, great group of guys. Anybody know if next years State match is going to be here or Frostproof again? If it’s at Titusville, I’m in.

    More Gas ?

Don't you have to use a min. of 120gr. bullet for major or did they change something?
  11. OK MD, thats just plan being mean.
  12. Check USPSA website. It's a self squadding match. Appears to be 9 slots left.
  13. Man, I wish I could make this one. I LOVE shooting steel and the Pet Cemetery is a dream come true. Bangin' and clangin' baby.
  14. yep, 87.2627%,,,,, 13 oc t 07
  15. Of course most people want to continually improve, reach for that next class and become better shooters, or should at least. No matter the class I'm in, I try to shoot my best. Winning B class but shooting 50% of the leader to me means that I got lucky to win B class, not that I shot well. I'm just saying if you are classfied in one it should carry over to another division. Going to a state or area match just to have fun and try to get better could be an expensive lesson. These matches typically run $400-700 or more when you figure everything in(gas, food, lodging, match fees). So when going to a major why not be able to be classified and get in on some of the goodies if you perform well instead of shooting U?
  16. Well actually.... We have Limited-10 IPSC does not We have a run what you got Production division where 9mm to .45 can all play IPSC does not We have Single Stack IPSC does not We have Limited IPSC has Standard, a lot like Limited, but different, same gun, different mags and equipment position, gun has to fit in the box. We have OPEN IPSC has OPEN We don't have Modified IPSC does (It is a lot like Open, but has to fit in the box) Do we need to add a 7th division? I don't think so, but then again, I do think that 6 divisions is a pretty good number and the divisions we have all have pretty good participation in different areas of the country. Jim All that is true, but it's kind of kind of like being able to add to the rules of the parent orq. but not taking away from. I honestly dont know why we have SS, only slightly different than L-10, round count for major/minor and scoring, being the majors. As far as prod. goes it's kind of crazy to. No 1911's, but a S&W 4506 is single action after the first shot. Why cant we shot a 1911 as long as it's hammer down at the start signal. It's not a perfect system as everyone knows, but I think a "Limited Modified" would have a pretty good following.
  17. using grams 4mm basepad, no extra round ok, and I remember your reply to ISMI springs from a previous thread a couple days ago. Might get a good one, might not. I just do the trial and error thing.
  18. From the USPSA home page, "USPSA is affiliated with the International Practical Shooting Confederation (I.P.S.C.), which is comprised of approximately 67 nations. USPSA is the American region of IPSC. We INVITE YOU TO JOIN us." So, since we are part of IPSC, not them part of us, why shouldn't we have a modified division. Absolutely no reason not to. As for needing $4k to go open, I had a second top end built for my EDGE for $1300. Yeah, it's 40 but it's still fun and once I got the loads figured out my first "real" classifiers were 84 and 87%, from a B Lim and L-10 shooter, so it works, don't let people tell you it don't.
  19. sti tubes, svi or arren followers and ismi spring 12 coil, sti gun Had grams set-up, got 24 reloadable and the spring died in less than 3 months, decided to give ISMI spring a try
  20. big stick, 24 reloadable, 25 non, 40 cal.
  21. Will cutting 1 or 2 coils out of a ISMI get in an extra round or simply decrease spring performance?
  22. Not posting stages prior to the match. In a way I kind of like the idea of first seeing it when you show up instead of in advance.
