  1. I purchased and received the above JM holster a few weeks ago. My daughter adopted it as she already adopted my MP9. She used it in a match the next day. She has been training with it for a month now and is working as designed. It is performing well, and we are both very happy with the product and the company. We will buy from them again.

    IC’s training

Been traveling without access to range or gear, but bought a laser training system before I left. Worked through playing around with it stage and have settled into some drills.

Interested in hearing about you experience with this firearm. I’m enjoying my 92X Defensive, and am considering getting another pistol within the 92 platform.
  4. I believe the original question was about the LASR software system not the red dot producing hardware or the application of this technology to competition training. I used the LASR software previously and liked it. It was reasonably easy to set up both on my laptop with a cheap web cam and on my phone. I used it with a SIRT pistol and a SIRT AR bolt. Sometime it would not register a shot and sometimes it would record dozens of shots that were not actually fired due to a shifting light or other technical glitch. But these issues were easy to correct and once you are up and running it worked well. Generally dim lit room works best. I used it in my basement and while in hotels. as to the concern about “chasing the dot” I did notice with the camera and software tracking my shots I was able to stay focused on my sight and pushing my eyes to my next target. My background is defensive shooting. I am new to competition shooting and not qualified to comment on its utility for that arena. However my daughter has been using my SIRT in conjunction with regular rangework and it has help her tremendously. In her small apartment there is ni “safe” direction to dry fire a real gun. The SIRT makes practice safe and effective. She won her division in her very first match at local club, and placed high in her second. I stopped using the software while overseas with out the hardware, but will probably be adding it back to my training, unless I go with an IR laser. To my knowledge the LASR system and most other systems do not work with IR lasers, you need target designed specifically for the IR. hope this helps.

  7. I have been looking for a holster for a 5” M&P CORE with tlr1 as well. I’m ordering this one: https://www.jmcustomkydex.com/p/Q-RC-Light-Bearing_Holster.html it is compatible with many company’s belt attachments so I can use existing Safariland system. You can order it with or without attachments. It had positive recommendations from users on S&W forums.

    IC’s training

Shot a rimfire challage last weekend. Good match we both competed well without any safety issues or procedural problems. Need to add extended base pads to the magazines.
  9. I recently had the font fiber optic tube in my front sight replaced on my 92X Defensive. A gunsmith was able to take care of it while I waited. They said the correct size is the 1.5mm/ .06 inch tube.
  10. I picked up a 92XPD with the goal of try competition shooting. I am currently experimenting with different grip techniques and grip panels. I have some Lok wrap around grips, and I’ll cover those in a separate post. I wanted to try the standard vertex frame but needed more texture. They did not have precut panels for 92’s with frame mounted safeties so I started with standard 92 grip tape and cut to fit. They came out well and feel great.

Very limited training time the last several weeks. Tendinitis in shooting arm interfering with dry practice and knee injury reduction range training and fitness workout. Mostly been coaching daughter through basics.
  16. Thanks for posting this. I’m gearing up to start some local competition ad just set up a similar short course for a new shooter that may join me for some matches. We did not run a timer this trip, but we will next time. It does seem like an interesting way to gain some insight to my strengths and weakness with different platforms and gear.

    IC’s training

I’m not as far along in my training as I would like, but I have made it to the range most weeks, and have added some dry practice in this week. It took time but I think I have most of my pieces in place to train now. I will get to the range this weekend and work on double taps, and transitions. Last week my splits were averaging.20 and transitions.40. I stared to bring those together with splits around .25 and transitions below .30

    IC’s training

Been busy getting up and running on this, first snag was my training venue. I thought I could work out of a holster after completing a course at my indoor range but I was mistaken. Still no holster work and only one round per second. So I joined a club. That was over a month long process. Had to attend a couple meetings, and have a few range check offs over a period of time. Good facility and well run. The process is reasonable and effective, just takes time. got that done and have spent the last several weeks getting my adult daughter up to speed on the basics. We are now at point where we can run simple drills together. I need to make or buy 3 more target stands. We only have one right now. Working on first round hits, double taps, and Failure to stop drills until I add more targets.
  21. I decided recently to explore competitive shooting for enjoyment and to improve my overal shooting capabilities. I have not had any rage time in months and very little in the last several years, so I decided I just needed to start some place. I had about an hour while on a trip and there was a great range next to the hotel ( police Hall of Fame and Training Centre in Titusville, FL) so this was the chance to get started. I wanted to put together a simple set of drills I could run on a timer to get a base line, and then repeat periodically to gauge any improvement. I wanted to have target transitions in the drill but that is often tricky at indoor range. I settled on UP drill 1 round repeat a total of five times Double tap x 5 2 to chest, 1 to head. x5 bill drill x 5 total 60 rounds I will post my run later. Just getting started was the goal,
  22. I would buy two extended Shield safeties.
  23. I’ve used a SIRT 110 (M&P) for awhile now and found it to be a quality training tool. Not a replacement for your actual pistol, but very useful. Good for tactics, multiple shot drills etc. I started using it when I was traveling a lot and did not have a good “safe direction” to do dry practice in while in hotels and temporary apartments. Nice to be able to leave it out without having to worry about it. I selected the M&P because it was the closest match in feel to the HK I was using at the time. The training carried over well to my actual pistol.
  24. Yes, North AND Central Florida. Officially living in Jacksonville area, but spending most of my free time in Orlando. Been shooting at Orlando Gun Club a few times
