  1. Even though your eyes are superimposing the dot onto the target when you're target focused the dot will still be out of focus because your eyes are only able to hard focus on a single plane at a time. The dot is supposed to work similar to a HUD where the dot is projected in the same plane as your environment, but it doesn't work perfectly all the time. I think that if you're able to discern whether or not the dot is blurry while you're shooting, you're probably focusing too hard on the dot. In many shooting situations the dot is nothing more than a flash or a streak of color in the window that you're using to aim. The only time that the dot appears as a nice round dot is when you're shooting at a slow pace. In my case, even with corrective lenses, the dot is never not blurry or fuzzy due to my astigmatism. It's actually not even completely round. However, it doesn't make a difference in accuracy because I'm never focusing on the dot hard enough while shooting to notice.
  2. This is exactly what you're supposed to be doing. If you're focusing on the dot, then you can't be focused on the target. Think of using the dot like using a mouse cursor. You don't have a hard focus on the mouse cursor as you're using a computer. You focus on what you want to click on and use your "soft" vision to move the cursor over it. Try using a computer by actually having a hard focus on the mouse cursor. It's difficult.

    Shadow 2 in LO

You can use any of the OR plates designed for the P-10 if you're not willing to wait for one of the Shadow 2 versions to come back in-stock. The only downside is that shape/profile of the front of the plate won't match perfectly with the shape of the Shadow 2 slide. ANR's P-10 RMR plate (made of steel) is in-stock right now.
  4. The GLS holsters are actually optic compatible. Most of the GLS models are also available on Amazon so you could buy different sizes to try and return them if they don't work with the DWX. I prefer the 6xxx series holsters also, but I was pleasantly surprised with the GLS that I picked up for my SP-01 w/ 507 Comp. It's also way less bulky than the 6xxx series holsters.

Like crg says below, that's an issue only because of the USPSA rules. The half-cock position, according to CZ, is designed to prevent the gun from accidently firing when manually cocking the hammer to put it into SA, not when manually lowering the hammer to put it into DA. Exactly. The half-cock position works just as CZ says it should.
  6. The DWX does not have a FPB like a CZ, but it also does not use a trigger mechanism like a CZ. It uses a trigger mechanism that is comparable to a 70 series 1911 (which also do not have FPBs). It's no less drop safe than any 70 series 1911. I'll take a full-size handgun over a compact handgun any chance I get, especially in a competitive environment. They're simply easier to shoot quickly and accurately, and to reload quickly. That said, if the weight is a concern for long distance run-n-gun events, you can still be competitive with a compact gun. A compact handgun would be less of a handicap in those types of events than it would be in USPSA-style events. The base pad should prevent over insertion of the compact size mag, but I'm not sure if there is any type of physical over insertion stop within the gun (I doubt it). I would be careful if you're planning to use full-size mags in the DWX compact without some type of mag body sleeve. I have come across people successfully using the full-size DWX in various 6xxx and 7xxx series Safariland holsters, but I'm not sure which models specifically. If I remember correctly some of them were using holsters designed for Staccatos as you mentioned. EDIT: I bet that the DWX compact would fit into one of the Safariland GLS Pro-Fit holsters (there's six different sizes). It's a pretty cool "universal" style active-retention holster that holds onto the trigger guard instead of the ejection port like Safariland ALS holsters. I have one and and the draw speed from it is stupid fast because the active-retention is defeated as you form your grip on the gun. It has the standard Safariland mounting hole pattern so you can use it with any Safariland mount. Take a look at this compatibility chart and find the size that most closely matches the size of the DWX compact.

All of the CGW extended firing pins that I have used have protruded past the breech face when hammer down. CGW themselves will tell you that their extended firing pins protrude on average from .000" to .004" depending on the model CZ. And per CZ, non-decocker equipped CZs are supposed to either be carried fully cocked with the manual safety ON, or fully hammer down with the manual safety OFF. In all of CZ's literature the half-cock notch on non-decocker guns is a safety notch that is there to ensure that the hammer does not hit the firing pin if the user mistakenly drops the hammer during the cocking process. It's not a drop safety feature per CZ.

When the hammer is fully lowered onto the firing pin it's actually also resting against the back of the slide, so even if you were to hit the hammer as hard as you can the slide prevents the forward movement of the hammer that would move the firing pin. With the stock firing pin and the hammer resting on the firing pin, the tip of the firing pin does not protrude from the breech face. The issue with extended firing pins is that they often do protrude from the breech face when the hammer is resting on the back of the firing pin, so primer contact is probable. In the scenario of a broken firing pin spring I would be less concerned with the gun falling on a fully lowered hammer with a stock firing pin than I would with the gun falling on the muzzle that could possibly send the firing pin forward with enough force to ignite the primer.

    Shadow 2 Compact

That's not possible on a stock Shadow 2, only on one that has been modified with an extended firing pin and a lightened firing pin spring.

For a carry gun the lack of a firing pin block isn't as much of an issue for me as the lack of a decocker lever is. If I planned to carry one of these I would want to carry it with the hammer resting at half-cock, but I don't love the idea of having to manually lower the hammer to do so. Many people don't use the most fool-proof technique when lowering the hammer on their Shadows, but at least at the range the consequences of slipping off the hammer are significantly lower than doing so inside your home.
  11. This is where I disagree if we're really trying to make a division like carry optics "realistic" in today's world with so many more people carrying AIWB, and with USPSA allowing AIWB at matches. I carry my spare mag everyday at around the 11:00-11:30 position, so allowing mags forward of the hip is a familiar position to me, and also to many others. Most LE and military folk also have their pistol mags positioned forward of their hip on their duty belts, so it's also relevant to that crowd. I wonder how many people these days are actually carrying spare pistol mags behind their hip outside of a competition setting?
  12. Interesting that you had that experience with the reticles. To my eyes the 2 MOA dot + 8 MOA ring really looks like an almost solid 8 MOA dot at speed, but that may be due to my astigmatism blurring them together. I'm also a fan of just the 8 MOA dot by itself like the 407CO used to have, but that could also be because it appears sharper to my eyes than a solid 8 MOA dot because of my astigmatism.
  13. You could try reaching out to Nameless Arms to see if they might be able to offer a milling solution for you. They specialize in custom optic cuts and do great work.
  14. I believe that you're thinking of A&A Optics, not AAAoptics. People have had good experiences buying Holosun optics from AAAoptics even though the website looks kind of crummy, and an employee who works at Holosun said over on reddit that they're an authorized Holosun reseller, so I took the chance and ordered two 507 Comps from them on Monday. They shipped the same day and were delivered today, but I haven't been able to look at them yet.
  15. Here's a link to the video. The title isn't very descriptive, so it took me a minute to find it again. I'm not surprised you couldn't find it.
  16. Which model CZ did this happen with? One with a firing pin block should have prevented the round from going off even with the CGW extended firing pin and a weak firing pin spring.
  17. Here's a couple of pictures that better show how the RDOMS from Fire 4 Effect works. Impact Machine mentioned that he plans to make replacement parts for the system available, so it might be worthwhile to reach out to them and see if they can provide you with the mounting posts & hardware. There's also a video on youtube of someone disassembling the RDOMS where you can see how it works.
