  1. Guide rod labeled as gen 5 (extra length) and spring that is suitable diameter to fit on said rod. That simple. Wolff and carver tungsten on gen 5 34 for me. Wolff fits larger diameter rod than ISMI I do recall looking for a more cost effective G17.5 stainless rod and was hard to find uncaptured. edit: the detail you were missing here is that wolf says their springs are not suitable for GEN four and five, because those guns do not come with a type of guide rod that can except aftermarket springs. What they mean to say is that you have to buy a guide rod to use their springs on those gens.

Can you share some more info and pics of your grip tape? Our setups are very similar, my talon grips are wearing out.
  3. I use a razor blade to cut the tabs off mags.
  4. Any troubles loading them? Tough to seat like Ginex? Or issues in the press?

CH brass plug is good and reasonably priced. spring depends on ammo. If shooting lighter loads dropping to lighter spring can help. In gen 5 I think 14-15lb is a good place. They don’t compress the spring as much as older hens and need another lb or 2 IMO. I also don’t chase going really light, doesn’t provide benefit for me. Shot bone stock g34.5 for a long time. Adding some weight and recoil spring is nice but didn’t make much score improvement

For me it’s negligible. Yes there is some change in impulse and rate at which the sights return.. spent last year on the G34 and have been contemplating using g17 as main gun this year to see if it matters. you mention being new. I wouldn’t worry about the gun one bit. Bring the g45 out and have some fun

Second hand oem slide or a g17 slide would be my thought
  8. The GM kit? yes, I use it. For the cost it’s a simple solution. I’d you are chasing the best Johnny Glock/Timney/GPT is a better bet
  9. I’d like to understand that myself. factory gen 4/5 types never show any sign of wear for me.
  10. With the infinite amount of ‘does this wear on my Glock look normal’ posts out there you would think I could find one on this topic… mechanically, it makes sense that this would be normal, though after time I’m not sure how much it would end up beating the guide rod up. It did get me to consider spring force requirements. My understanding is that factory is 17 pounds but this spring rated at 15 feels much weaker. I was surprised how easy it is to rack the slide in comparison to factory.
  11. Recently installed a tungsten guide rod in a G34.5. First time using anything aftermarket. 15lb Wolff spring. noticing some peening around the end at the barrel lug. I assume this is the barrel unlocking and as it travels down it impacts the guide rod. normal? Anyone else see this in their aftermarket guide rods? Hard to get a picture, it’s minimal but so is the round count currently. Generic pic to show the area of interest.
  12. Just recently released, I picked one up. Check instagram for BF code this week. 140mm. Fit 24 right out the gate. After a few days full I jammed 25 in. Few more days and it would seat in the gun. Would not reload 25 from the belt, but Barney up 26 has worked for me a few times. Think ill order 2 more this week.
  13. I recently added a tungsten guide rod to my GEN 5 34. Plenty of folks on here talk about how these minor changes have good impact on performance. I can hardly tell a difference with things like adding an ounce, or changing the recoil spring a pound or two. Maybe it’s just lack of awareness or skill. sure The Gun feels heavier in my hand, in the basement. But when running around in practice or match setting, I never seem to notice it. The GEN five barrels are phenomenal. Extremely accurate. I would not buy anything aftermarket unless it was just a range toy/suppressor use. OEM threaded barrels do exist.
  14. Been there done that, it’s just not for me
  15. 17 Seems like the obvious choice, assuming it needs to be a Glock. I’ve been shooting G34.5 in CO for a while, posts like this push me closer to buying a 17 to shoot for next year. A lot of people seem to like how they cycle better, and cite radius is not relevant with an optic. Ben Stoeger seems to be die hard on those 34s still. If they work for him maybe I should just save my money…lol
  16. TTI works fine for me. I bet they will be roughly 30% off or $30 each for Black Friday. Hard to beat that price if you ask me.
  17. Does the trigger involve a lighter striker spring or modified striker?
  18. The plot thickens! ok, not really. Today I pulled the the trigger assembly in and out 100 times. When installing the TTI kit I also swapped the trigger bar/trigger for another OEM combo, that I had polished and used in another gun previously. (Swapped it for Apex at some point) the polished trigger bar seems to be the root cause here. After trying both trigger bars and numerous connectors, the one bar is very gritty. Which is interesting because to the naked and magnified eye it’s a mirror finish. The combo of parts is important in these guns due to variety of part fit/finish/dimensions/etc. In the end I’m down about half a pound and the short reset is nice.
  19. Searching yields lots of results, however, they don’t align with my recent experience. installing this connector in a GEN 5 34 gives half a pound increase in pull weight over stock minus connector. I don’t think the pull weight itself is relevant, since you can pull a Glock trigger 1000 different ways. But I’m using the same method each time. there are many threads on here praising the connector. But it feels terrible and increases the weight for me! Am I missing something?
  20. Thank you for describing why it is not a ‘high west’ item. That information is helpful in understanding why some springs need to be replaced more often. I guess this raises the next question, how would you know needs to be replaced? Some of them are obvious, you start to see malfunctions. This spring I’m not so sure you would notice once it gets weaker.
  21. Nice and simple. looks like you can’t buy the spring by itself for gen5. Am I missing something there?
  22. Running the TTI kit in a gen 5 34. Planning for spring replacements, I’ll get Wolff striker and plunger going forward. They are cheap and seem to work just fine. can’t find much info online about the lifespan of gen 5 trigger spring. Or if the TTI one is good/bad/even has an impact on trigger ‘performance’? are folks using the OEM spring?
  23. thank you for the info. That helps to put things in perspective.
  24. Those of you shooting 17/34 in CO, what do the guns weigh? stock 34 with SRO about 25oz. looking at CHPWS brass plug and a tungsten guide rod. Not trying to get crazy with every last ounce but ad a few more.
  25. Update. 1) upside brass is a rare occurrence after blocking some of the funnel with thin plastic as shown in other linked thread/earlier post. 2) decapping has improved with more modified pin tips. Not 100%, but improved. I’ve about given up on this one. 3) new issue! I’m getting brass jammed/sideways at station 1. This had never occurred a single time until this weekend. First thought was to tighten shell plate, it seemed looser than when I set it up and tightening did improve things. But did not solve it. anyone experience this? edit: I think the root cause for issue number three is primarily a dirty case shuttle channel. This is slowing things down and throwing off the ‘timing’. I have seen posts about using a recoil spring for added force, maybe that is worth trying. For now let’s see what a good cleaning does.
