  1. Winning "C" Limited at Nationals doesn't make you famous ......But thanks anyway Chad !!!!!
  2. I talked to John Amidon at Nationals this year concerning how to properly use the gauge. I was curious due to an situation I was involved in at a major earlier in the year. John Stated the mag should sit naturally in the gauge with no pressure added. The gauge is built with tolerance and no additional "help" is needed. Makes sense.... Interesting to note..........At Nationals our squad mostly of Limited shooters did not have any mags checked !!
  3. FYI - there is NOTHING in the rule book about the gauge !!
  4. I have been a fan for the past year......... they are just friggin awesome !!
  5. I would have been one of those squad mates !!! You just never know who some people are....
  6. Welcome to the forum !! What part of Michigan are you from ??
  7. Have you tried this one ?? I know the reviews say it doesn't have any spyware I am a little skeptical.
  8. Does anybody know of some freeware for saving Youtube vids to your computer ?? Preferably something that is not full of Ad-ware/Spy-ware.... Thanks, Nick
  9. Sometimes it is not a matter of staying to watch someone else get an award.... For many, it is a matter of getting home, especially on a Sunday, at a decent time. It will be a 3 hr drive for me, which I may do the morning of the match. So sticking around a few more hours can be difficult. Random prizes at registration are always good and appreciated !!
  10. Boy....I am glad I am in OPEN with my RF100.......the reloads are so much easier !!!!!!!!

Curious if anybody has any info about these??? I believe they have been out for a while but I haven't heard anything about them.
  12. +1 My wife and I are involved with a pit bull rescue. We adopted a pit/lab mix that was slightly anti-social to say the least. He was going to be put down, but with lots of love and patience, he has turned out to be the best dog we've ever had. THE ROCK !!
  13. How about a big CONGRATS to Bob Vogel.............The first shooter to be NATIONAL CHAMPION in all THREE auto DIVISIONS !!!
  14. Yep, then we'll need a spec trigger pull gauge, that will have to be certified annually, and the one used at major matches will be a different color than those available to us. Analog or digital? And the exact spot the gauge will be placed on the magazine will not be defined anywhere in the rule book. The mag should fit in the gauge without any force being applied. Bud Bud, Where does it say that in the RULE BOOK ??? Is there a NROI addendum stating this ? Just curious........
  15. Are you allowed to apply "gentle" pressure ??? Is your "gentle" pressure the same as the RO running the chrono stage at the next major match ??
  16. Welcome to forum Alan !! I am also from the Toledo area, I have shot or shoot at every USPSA/IDPA club within 3hrs of Toledo. I haven't shot much 3 gun, there are only a couple of places running it around this area. Let me know if you need any info about the clubs in our area. Nick
  17. Well, at least it was being done consistantly ! Yes, I agree and I am sure many others do as well, the shooter should be given all opportunities to comply. If it takes a hammer to get in, so be it ! I hope to hear from Mr. Amidon but I am sure he is busy with the Multigun Nats. Rather than wait, my mags will be adjusted accordingly so I don't go thru this in Vegas in a few weeks.
  18. Gary, Sounds as if you are giving the competitor every opportunity to conform to the gauge. I am very confident that adding external pressure to the magazine/basepad would/could have a dramatic effect on the outcome of a measurement. Is this standard practice or just your technique ??
  19. The same as if you handed over your Production pistol minus the guide rod so it could make weight. Your pistol made weight/your mag made length. Now you get to use it in the configuration in which it passed Curtis I understand what you are saying Curtis... The guide rod is an integral part of the pistol and definitely has to be included when weighing. As for the magazine, are we not just measuring the tube/base pad length ?? The spring and follower can effect the length due to stacking up of manufacture tolerances and wear as Bob mentioned. But does this really affect the effective length of the magazine ??
  20. I suspect the mag would be completely legal, as long as you ran it and all your other mags with no springs or followers. Welcome to Single Shot division. How does one know this to be true ?? The picture in Appendix E1 shows no follower..... And there is no WRITTEN procedure on how to properly use the gauge. Hmmm....
  21. It sure would be nice to get some clarification......... I wonder what the reaction of an RO would be if you handed them a mag with no follower or spring for measurement ??
  22. One would think but it looks like it has been an issue since 2008 !
  23. With the mag crooked in the gauge it is clearly illegal. With the mag straight in the gauge it appears to be legal due to the rumored "No daylight" criteria. With the mag sitting in the gauge with some pressure applied it appears to be very legal. However, are you allow to apply pressure when measuring or not ?? If not, show me where this is documented !! By the same token, show where it says you can? I think you are getting into a Clintonism of it depends on what "is" is. If you were beat by another shooter and you found that they had to push and tug to make his/her mags fit into the gauge, would your response be the same as what you want to argue here?. Well, I am not arguing anything, just trying to clarify the process and not go by somebody's interpretation of the how it is to be done. If I wanted to go by interpretations I would shoot a different sport ! If someone had to "push and tug" their mag into the gauge to fit then who really cares. Shouldn't we give the competitor every possible opportunity to comply with the rules. I don't see how a couple of thousandths would give somebody an advantage. Believe me, if a rule was written the didn't allow it I would not be happy. For some reason, no WRITTEN rule on how to perform this procedure has turned up !! Nick, I used enough pressure to hold the mag and the gauge without slipping, anything more than that would be forcing the mag into the gauge. I also kept the basepad square to the bottom of the gauge. I did have calipers with me, you should have asked me to measure the magazine as shown in Appendix E1 of the rulebook. You are free to send a query to John Amidon, Director of NROI, and ask the question on how to measure mags using the gauge. I would be very interested to read his reply in Front Sight. Bud How do you know you cannot force it into the gauge ?? Do you have documentation that says this is not the correct way to use the gauge ? John has already been queried. Calipers would have not been the correct measurement tool to use, a height gauge would be more suitable in this application. You would have also need an instrument to ensure the magazine was truly perpendicular to the measuring surface.
