Hey folks, last time I posted you guys helped a bunch, I’ve made my first 200 rounds in groups of 10 by charge weight for win 231 with XT 124gr rn, oal 1.148-1.150 (per the manual I got minimum is 3.8- max load is 4.5 for plated) my book doesn’t have lead 124 for some reason is this going to be a problem or does anyone have better data? I ordered Hornady edition 10 and Lyman’s newest. any help is greatly appreciated I know there’s a lot of exp on this forum!

Looking to start loading extreme bullets 147gr RN with CFE pistol powder. I use factory sig elite ammo which is 115gr at 1.155 OAL. Just need it to be 126-130 PF. Thinking of starting at 3.4gr and moving up a tenth.

My search results came up empty but I'm looking for load data using 115 grain Montana gold bullets and CFE pistol powder for major with a 38 Super comp Brazos gun. I know you have to make around 1480 ish fps. Is that going to be too much?

So I recently got my LW barrel back from Kneelingatlas who lengthened the throat to accommodate longer loads. I loaded up some test rounds using 124gr plated bullets from RMR and CFE pistol from 5.0 to 7.0gr, and my results are below for the last few data points. I didn't see a single pressure sign throughout 100 total rounds that I loaded for the test today, the only difference that I noticed was that as load got hotter, the dimple made by the firing pin became slightly shallower. No primer flattening around the outside of it, no bulged cases, and no split necks. I trust the results, but I'm in disbelief that my testing went like this without any hiccups! I have a load that I'm happy with, and I have enough buffer room on either side of it to comfortably throw powders and not have to weigh every last one of them because I feel I'm on the ragged edge.

Finally got a chance to take out my DVC and find a good starting point as to were to do a real load development. I was using a Pro Chrono. Outside temp was about 52 degrees. I know 5 shot strings isn't a real development but I needed a good starting point since this was my first time making a load for an open gun. Now that I know what charge to start with, I will go further. Need your inputs on what you guys think about the velocities. Thinking sticking to the BE-86 but I definitely can push the CFE-P further. BE-86 seemed to work the comp better. Both powders were real soft with CFE-P being the softest but not by much. Numbers on red are above max recommended as per manufacture. Is anyone using CFE Pistol for 38 super major with 124gr projectiles? If so, how much and what OAL? Sorry if this is a repeat thread, but all my searches came up with loads for 9mm major. Thanks!

Recently picked up 2 pounds of CFE Pistol from my LGS due to it being the only pistol powder available. Looking on Hodgdons Reloading data site and the start grains for 200 gr Cast LSWC are as follows: 200 GR. CAST LSWC Hodgdon PowderCFE Pistol Bullet Diameter.451" C.O.L.1.225" Starting Load Grains7.4 Velocity (ft/s)1,042 Pressure15,000 PSI Maximum Load Grains8.2 Velocity (ft/s)1,142 Pressure19,600 PSI The START load is 7.4 grains at 1042 FPS. Does this seem extremely high to anyone else? All i really need is 850 FPS to make 165 PF with an acceptable margin. Anyone tried CFE Pistol out and have any suggesstions on where to start?

Picked up a few $ of CFE Pistol from Graf's along with some primers to spread out the Hazmat fees. I'm hoping that, as a brand new powder, Hogdgon might actually try to keep some available/flowing into the system, but we'll see how that goes... Anyone loading any yet and chrono it? As I'm loading on the shorter side for my PPQ with MG 124gr JHPs (1.065"), I loaded a handful up at 4.4gr, 4.6gr, and 4.8gr for chrono-ing in a couple of weeks. The powder is denser by volume than WSF, meters well, with the burn rate claimed to be right between Autocomp and Silhouette. Post what's worked and experience w/CFE Pistol if you've got any, if not will post results once I chrono...
