Spray_N_Prey
Ok just finished up and love the magwell except for the major gap in the front of the magwell. Does anybody know why it's there or what's up with it? Thanks, Shawn G.
steel1212
Ok just finished up and love the magwell except for the major gap in the front of the magwell. Does anybody know why it's there or what's up with it?Thanks, Shawn G. My thinking is that they can get the magwell down lower for a better grip and still have room for the over insertion stop on your mags to hit the frame. When they mill it around the hole appears because its so low. Just my .
Spray_N_Prey
no there's like a BIG gap from the magwell extended past the front strap.

eerw
its for the baseplate of the mag that stops on the frame. I think Dawson now makes an insert to fill in the gap Edited December 31, 2009 by eerw
eerw
http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDeta...0A4A-1248106887 Dawson insert that covers the gap
AriM
the gap is supposed to be there, to clear standard/old style mags with the extended foot in front on the base....it serves a purpose, but you can just get the insert that covers it up if you like?.....what is your gripe about it? looks? or is it somehow making it function improperly? or are you just curious? triplesinglestack
mine has the same gap, only thing for sure is you cannot use the wilson etm mags w/extended base pads you will over insert and hit the ejector
