  1. Hello all. I've been a member for a long time. I went through some personal problems that caused me to get out of shooting for a while. I ran a gunshop, sold machine guns, suppressors, head gunsmith and full time USPSA shooter / Range master and then lost my father and step-father and then my fiance in the course of about 4 months. I hit rock bottom but have spent the last 6 months getting back on my feet. So basically i feel like a noob. Hello world, i'm back.
  2. Well I have a competition 625 and a performance center 4" 625 that has less than 200 rounds through it. I don't want 2 45acp revolvers. Any idea what this performance center is worth used? I think I'm going to try and sell it. I had a guy offer $800.00, but I thought he was low-balling. What do you guys think?
  3. Shot this one in open with 11.21 HF and a time of 7.49. Very fun classifier. Got this one on hatcam.
  4. Two options only: Option 1: Use a chrono Option 2: Use shooters declared power factor Option 3: take away from your shooting experience by worrying about what other shooters are or aren't doing, wait I said only 2 options, so I guess this just isn't an option. Get a chrono or let it go..
  5. On some of the Glocks that I have gotten a sub 2lb trigger on, I would need to file a small amount off of the trigger safety just enough to allow it to catch the frame. Problem solved.
  6. My setup is 2 Single stage presses (Rock Chucker and a Lyman Crusher II), 2 Dillon 650's and a 550. The SS presses hardly EVER get used and I usually keep the 550 for rifle calibers. The 650's are used exclusively for pistol match ammo. The 550 has done some 45acp also. I have a friend that wouldn't trade his 550 for anything. If I could only choose one, it would be the 650 loaded.
  7. I know you said 9/38 but I have 2 of them in 140mm 40 cal and one runs flawless w/ 20+1, the other would bind up at 18 and there would be about a 1/2 second delay going from the 18th round to the 17th round. I filed the inside of it where it hung up and guess I filed too much and went right through the mag. Now with a hole in it, it runs flawless Go figure.
  8. I either gave up at 45 or was told it would at least be that long. Have tried several times.
  9. I would like to and have tried to call Dillon about a dozen times, but really don't want to wait 45+ minutes. It's actually getting close to the year warranty. I should get ahold of them.
  10. Ok I have two Dillon tumblers bought new within 6 months of each other. They have different looking counter weights underneath them, one tumbles the brass like crazy turning over wonderfully, the other just doesn't. they both rotate clockwise as one of them the brass is being flipped from the outer part of the bowl to the inner part tumbling over while the brass just kinda sits at the bottom of the other tumbler. Any ideas?
  11. Chopps I meant without a bullet in there. I'm thinking too much belling. I meant a side view right after the powder drop
  12. I have about several hundred pieces of brass that are 38 TJ and as hard as brass is to come by, was wondering if most 38SC guns will run TJ brass.
  13. UMMMM.......That's NOT normal. I would take my dies apart and see if they are REALLY dirty or something. can you show us a side view of a belled case?
  14. I can't comment on your experience, but I use to be a Dillon dealer and a loyal customer for a long time ( only reason I'm no longer a dealer is I don't work for the company anymore). I have had several issues going back to the worn out SD I bought used to the 2 650's and 550 I have now and have NEVER had Dillon do anything but bend over backwards for me. They in my opinion are a blessing to the shooting world. Anybody give me just ONE example of the Warranty or CS Dillon Precision has. Just one....... Shawn
  15. I will probably just buy the EGW FPS that way I can keep this extractor (that works perfect) as a backup or if the Aftec has problems like some people claim. I just know that I'm tempting fate. I have an open gun that runs flawless (when I keep the 38 super brass out of it) and now I'm going to go monkeying around with it and I'm sure the open gun gods will punish me.
  16. Better get you a belt to hang all that stuff on, j/k. Is it a super or super comp? Are you reloading? Getting components is the big problem now. Start purchasing in quantities now.
  17. any recommendations on a firing pin stop?
  18. Ok I've shot all divisions at one time or another and now i'm going to dive into open class in hopes of making master. Here's what I've got. An older style 38 SC SVI frame with an STI slide. I bought the gun several years ago and it 99% of the time runs perfect. I have had a few jams but found out that I somehow got some 38 super brass in there and it wasn't really the guns fault (or at least that's what I think). Since then I check my brass head stamps a little better. Long story short, I really haven't had much problem with the gun the way it's set up. Should I change the extractor out or leave things the way they are? Is an Aftec a drop-in part or does it need tweaked to be reliable? just not wanting to run into problems down the road and am looking for the most reliable extractor. Thanks, Shawn
  19. Dumb question, but have you taken your resizing die out and seen if there is a bunch of crap up in the die?
  20. Ok back to the drawing board. Had some problems today. 2 light primer strikes. So give me some smith names I can contact. FFL - I will also call you about this in a few days.
  21. replaced the mainspring screw with a longer one and took it out last night and it ran 100% out of about 100 rounds. Will do some more testing. Shawn
  22. From what i've heard, the original smith isn't doing this right now. I haven't contacted him directly, but heard he was focusing on his full time job and kinda put this on the backburner, or I would have contacted him.
