cardguy
I tried to load IMR 4350 in my 243 WSSM case. What a mess. So I will load Varget without too much spillage. Is there a powder bar that works correctly with large kernel powders?
Joe4d
not really, I have loaded alot of 4350 into 3006 with a Dillon, you just have to slow down and give a few taps, it still isnt perfect. Hodgdon has a line of short grain powders, as in 4831 SC (At least I think the letter is SC, its a shorter grain powder that is identical in balistics but meters better. I am pretty sure 4350 is one of the offerings.
dillon
The issue here is trying to get a large-grained extruded powder to go thru a small-diameter funnel. Nothing to do with the powder bar. Suggest either the Hodgdon short cut powders, the Alliant Reloader-series, or one of the slow ball/spherical powders.
Tom S.
Long grain powders don't even meter well in manual powder measures. If they did, no one would sell powder tricklers. The manual way of using these types of powders was to throw light charges and trickle powder in until the charge reached the proper weight.
