fritzthemoose
Hello there, Is there a way to distinguish a OEM Glock spring from an ISMI one? Is there a way to determine th lb of an ISMI Glock spring? I do have several and they are completly mixed up by now. Is longer automaticly always harder? What would you recomend for an Open Glock 17 running 9 Major with a PF of
BoyGlock
Found this old post w/o any answer. Hope somebody has it now. Im most interested on the Glock 17 9maj. I use 13" ISMI but have nothing to compare it to. Shot thousands w/ it and have no problem so far on the frame and locking block. Should I be worried? glocklover
I use a 15lb recoil spring for 9 major. A 14 lb spring for minor. I think it depends on the barrel, the comp, the type of slide , and the type of powder you use. The lighter the slide the lighter the spring. The longer the comp the lighter the spring and so forth. My open Glock is a built on a Glock 17. So my slide is lighter than a Glock 34. Bottom line is you need to buy many different spring weights and see what works. Craig It was always my assumption that the G17 and G34 slides were the same weight. That is the point of the cutout on top of the G34's slide so they could both use the same captured recoil spring and guide. The G34's barrel is longer, but I think the slides are the same weight. (I've never weighed them)
