target1911
For IDPA I am shooting a G34 with stock bbl and recoil spring. My current load... 4.2gr Titegroup 115gr FMJ (gun show pick up but plan to use Montana gold in the near future) COL is 1.143 6 shot ave FPS is 1131....high 1136 low 1124 (next lowest was 1129) Accuracy is great... What I want is a load that is less snappy than what I am getting with the Titegroup. I have thought about changing to 125gr FMJs but open to options. What are your "Highly Scientific" suggestions? Your load is a pretty nice one for 115 grain bullets. Were it me, I'd look toward 147's to reduce the muzzle snap. I like 3.4 grains of S-1000 or 3.8 of N-330 but a little searching here will turn up tons of good information on 147's for Minor.

The research I have done so far, many people are saying that seems to make the gun run slower. I will be reading more tho.
VegasOPM
I use 4.4gr of 700X for right at 1100fps out of a G17. I don't find it too bad, but I don't mind the "snap" as much as I don't like "flip" that I seem to get with heavier bullets.
HSMITH
You won't know what is what until you try it. Try some 124/5's and some 147's. The 147's can FEEL sluggish but you will not be able to outrun the gun, physically impossible. Try some other loads until you find one that feels good and then shoot all you can, shooting will help. Good point I may just use my little single stage press for development. Gotta knock the dust off it first. edit to fix the spelling that my I-phone messed up Edited February 21, 2009 by target1911

Joe D
147s are a little light for me. I currently use 160s. Looking for some 180 - 200 gr bullets. BTW I still get a chuckle when I hear folks say they are waiting on the slide.
Jman
Doesn't matter really. Once you've decided do Matt Burketts timing drill. http://www.doublealpha.biz/tip_burkett.htm The force will be with you. Jim

It sucks that the only range I can shoot like that is 45mi away.
