atbarr
Hello people, I'm looking for a soft shooting (low recoil) in my 1911 9mm, that will make PF. I think I'm going to use Solo 1000, with either 125 gr. JHP or 147 gr. JHP. Will there be any problem instead of using FED #100 SMALL PISTOL, that I use FED #200 SMALL PISTOL MAG, or FED #205 SMALL RIFLE? Thanks for so much information on this forum. A.T. revchuck
I'd stay with the Federal 100s, since they're designed for pistols, and the data you find will be based on using standard pistol primers. Having said that, I've used the 200s after having adjusted the loads downward. 205s will be hotter still, plus harder to ignite due to the tougher primer cup; there's no reason to use them unless you can't find any other pistol primers of any brand. Sean Gaines
I use magnum primers in my 38 super loads, works fine no problemo. you might get a few fps out of using the magnum primers. Don't know if it will be softer or not, it wouldn't hurt to try.
chuckbradley
I have been using Fed 200's in 38 super, 38 super comp, 9mm major and 40 for the last 16 years. Its my primer of choice.
