Chills1994
Yeah, this is from the Sgt Rob Johnson and PFC Dan Horner shotgun reloading video here: http://www.myoutdoortv.com/pdk/web/shootin...u85cQQt0fFcjTQ_ And here is a screenshot/capture I took of it: Is that something commercially available or did the AMTU armorers make that? Thanks! Edited December 5, 2008 by Chills1994
Matt Cheely
I'm guessing a little rifle sight with a custom hood.

Chills1994
Okay... I'm just wondering if that is something I can cobble up myself.... Hmmmn.... It sure would beat drilling and tapping my "lemon hunnerts" for that big ol' honkin' PSI/LPA rear ghost ring sight. el pres
I think the Mauser hood is to hide the secret weapon from the public !! And yes, I want to know what that sight picture looks like also ??? I'm sure they have Wi Fi at the base !! MidwayUSA Link for a Remington 700 front sight hood I'm not at my home computer. Otherwise I would do a screenshot of it and post it to photobucket and paste the image here. I can see it now... a little dremelizing...a very slim piece of aluminum, possibly?? to slide under the rib, drill and tap, and clamp that hood onto the rib and you would be in business. 7 bucks for the hood. Way cheaper than that hunk of steel ghost ring rear. And NOT having to worry about boogering up the shotgun's receiver. Sounds good to me. Adrian_Sorah
Whats the point of having the hood?
Chills1994
I think it acts like a big ghost ring. I think. It "frames" the target better. As in, "if the target fits in this "hoop", I can be guaranteed with 90% certainty of getting a hit." It probably also forces you to get a proper cheek weld and that your eye or eyes are getting the same sight picture every time. Versus a ghost ring rear mounted way back on the receiver, it probably allows you to keep your left eye open, use more of your peripheral vision to see and acquire the next target. Bear1142
Yes, its a hood for the rear sight. I've seen it and it's quite effective. It helps keep your head down on the stock. You know the instant your cheekweld changes. Good stuff. Erik
Chills1994
I like this sight picture better: That other one is shaped funny and way too busy with all the fiber optics.
