FUNDAMENTALS: what's your training list ? ...

Recommended Posts

I think that a good habit for any kind of shooter (from the lower "D" to the Top GM) is to reinforce fundamentals during training.

About me the main areas to cover are:

- draw

- accuracy

- target acquisition

- exiting/entering positions

- reload

- mental game

Do you agree with this list or there is something that I've forgot ?

What are your favourite drills for each area ?

Here are some drills that cover a lot of what your looking for. If you don't have 50 yard range, shoot as far as you can and mix up the drills.

WOW, that's a lot interesting !

The only thing that I would like to add is something about transition between positions (with exiting + entering) ...

Stefano,

I Agree with fudamental and most importantly TECHNIQUES needs to be practiced on a

daily basis. This is what I learned from takeing GRAUFFEL'S CLASS.

ED

Eheheheh ... me too I've taken a two-days-class with Eric (level 2 + 3) only 1 month ago ... ;)

And level 1 almost 2 years ago !

Great experience !

I break down fundamentals alittle differently that makes sense to me

Stand and shoot skills

Grip

Draw

reload

Transitions

Weak hand

Strong hand

Movement skills

Entering, exiting positions

Shooting on the move(duck walking, shooting while walking left, right, forward and backwards)

Reload on the move, have it done on your 1st step(practice reloads to the right, left, forward and backwards)

Accuracy

Bench group shooting

Standing group shooting

Strong hand standing group shooting

Weak hand standing group shooting

Calling shots/follow through

Stage breakdown-I consider this a skill just the same as anything else

Eliminate positions

know exact locations of all targets(should not be looking for them as you go through the course)

Eliminate wasted movements

Stage memorization(memorize stage game plan)

Stage visualization(visualize stage game plan)

Mental Game

Goal setting

Performance journal

Directive Affirmation/Daily journal

Visualization

Self image

Self talk

I'm sure I have left something out....
