USBP379
Howdy All, Here's the deal: I am so used to the M4 system, I just can't warm up to the darn A2 stock that is on my CTR02. So, I have a carbine buffer, a carbine buffer tube, and an LMT M4 type buttstock that I can install on my CTR02. Problem is, I wanna' have my my cake and eat it too, as it applies to the light recoil of the gun. Currently, the low mass operating system incorporates a red colored, low mass buffer. Here's the question: can I use that JP low mass buffer in my Carbine buttstock and not damage my lower? I figured I could dial back the gas and slow it down a bit. I could also lighten up a stock buffer and maybe find a happy medium with recoil. Any ideas? Please let me know if anyone has had any experience doing this. Thanks! GentlemanJim
A carbine buffer is shorter than A rifle buffer Only use the SHORT buffer in a carbine buffer tube A regular carbine buffer and spring should work Jim
smokshwn
The JP low mass buffer (the red one) is listed as weighing three ounces, a regular carbine buffer weighs 3 ounces. So you should get very similar recoil with a carbine buffer in a carbine tube and as Jim said no full length buffer in a carbine tube, it is too long. blkbrd
Before JP came out with the red buffer they used a carbine buffer with a spacer in the full sized stock. Same setup without the spacer works great in a carbine stock with the low mass carrers.
USBP379
Thanks guys! I now have my CTR02 set up exactly the way I want it. I'll field test it Friday. Next to get broke in is the LRP07. Adios! USBP379
steel1212
I don't like a A2 stock either so I run a EMOD stock with carbine buffer and all the other JP parts...works great for me.
blkbrd
I still prefer the A1 stock to all the collapsible ones.
busyhawk
USBP379 Have you tried to call JP and see what he would suggest? He is a great guy to talk to and has all the knowledge you want and for sure can answer the listed questions. Give him a call and tell us what he thinks.
