JT Johnson
I didn't find any info on this with the search feature. Does anyone use the Barrett 1911 mag well that is made by Clark? How does it compare to an S&A or ed brown magwell? I have an old 70 series colt gold cup nat'l match and want to add a few inexpensive parts to make it an entry-level limited ten blaster. BrianH
I got one back in '88 or so and thought it was quite the piece of crap. Nice idea, but the fit sucked (where the thing wraps around the front of the frame and holds with a set screw) and the bevel was not so very good. I ended up going right to a S&A. Much nicer, better fitting, the Brown looks good, too. Just reminded me of where I got it....does anybody remember Denny's Shooters Supply? warpspeed
JT, I too have a ser 70 GC I'm doing myself for fun and the learning experience that comes with it. I choose a Smith & Alexander one piece mag well/mainspring housing. The fit to the Colt frame was almost perfect out of the box. It might be a little more expensive but worth it. Al Capizzo
I had the Barrett mag well on a single stack long ago. It is definitely better than no mag well, but not nearly as nice as a S & A. Al
Run n Gun
JT, I looked at the Barrett long and hard and then bought the Ed Brown. I made the right choice! Ed
JT Johnson
Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I'll be getting the S&A magwell. Josh
