Phil306
Has anyone used VangComp Shotguns/Barrels for competition uses? Good, bad, indifferent??? Any links, etc would be appreciated.
Intel6
I have an 11-87 Police that has been Vang Comped and I have used it before in 3 gun. The choke you basically end up with from a Vang barrel is basically a modified. This is a bit tight for most shotgun stages and I have found I prefeer a more open choke for 3 gun. ErikW
Yeah that's what I heard... they are great for offensive/defensive shotgun buckshot patterns but they produce overchoked birdshot patterns for 3 gun games.
kellyn
I had a vang comp barrel on an 870. It's pattern was more like turkey extrafull. Great for turkeys but a bit tight for 3 gun. It's a choke designed for combat use and I'd sure hate to shoot at clay targets with it, especially those that get launched by poppers. But if that's what you got, go for it. Phil306
Thank you for the reply's. I am just now getting into competition shooting. As a police officer, I also have an 870 w/a Vang Comp System. The shotgun works wonderfully, however I was unsure as to its suitability in a competition arena. I have now found out. Thank you all.
