College Footbal Bowl Games

Hey... I love college football games as much as anyone... But I think the bowl game business (and that's what it is...) Has gotten totally out of control.

This year between December 20th and January 7th...... there will be 32 college football bowl games.... with ESPN covering 21 of them.

As a Big Ten fan I noted that there are 8 teams (out of 11) playing in bowl games... so the 8th place team is going to a bowl.

I'd have to say....... they really don't mean much any more.

I agree.. I remember when the only 4 "bowl" Games I knew of were:

The Rose Bowl

The Orange Bowl

The Super Bowl

The Pro Bowl

now it takes a program guide to keep up with all the different games going on.

If I was sudenly in charge of the world.... The Bowl Games would be Conference championship games pitting the top two teams of the conference. Making it in a sense the first round of the Playoffs. The Conference champs would then move to next round. The old traditional Bowl games could take turns hosting the Semi finals and the National Championship.

the coach has to bring in the $ to keep his job and help with recruiting the top seeds.
