OPENB Posted October 5, 2007 Share Posted October 5, 2007 I presently run a RRA 16" midlength gas barrel that is heavy under the HG's, with a FF tube, Millet DMS in Warne steel rings on a RRA Scout mount. The thing is heavy. I wanted to turn the barrel down to a Gov't profile, like a Colt 6551, but the local smith said I would mess up the barrel harmonics. But, the last barrel i sent him took almost 3 months to complete. In my book thats to long. Id rather spend more and get it done sooner than wait that long. Bronco Posted October 9, 2007 Share Posted October 9, 2007 Have turned down a 18" heavy barrel (.850 under the HG) took off .135 so down to .715 saved a lot of weight and didn't hurt it one bit.
