1050 - Not smooth cycling

Gidday All,

I have bought a 1050 in 9mm, at last.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if when on the upstroke with the handle do all 1050's stick in a couple of places. It seems to be about 1/3 of the way up and again about 1/2 way up. I am reloading once fired ex-military 9mm brass with the crimped primer pocket, so I still have the primer pocket swager still attached. I have tried adjusting the swager to see if that is the cause of the sticking, but No improvement.

Plus in reloading about 1000 rounds I have had about 40 rounds with the primers either not inserted at all or forced into the pocket with a portion of the primer edge still protuding. Using Federal Small pistol primers.

Any suggestions?

Try this with the no cases on the plate, then run a single case through each of the stations noting which one(s) correlate with the interference you note.

When my 1050 sticks on the upstroke it is a loose primer grinding between the base and the shellplate.

It is sticking or catching on safety rachet (behind primerfeed) on upstoke?

If catching on rear ratchet, call dillon for instruction how to adjust.

if not, look at powder measure bell mouth die

Look for too much bell mouth, (maybe sticking, wipe with dryer fabric sheet, back off powder die to mininum needed, learned it here)

I wipe bell mouth die every 100 rounds, smooth as silk.......

Are you lubing the cases? Some Hornady One Shot in a large baggie, add cases, zip bag and shake. Makes a world of difference in how smooth the reloading goes.

Make sure to check the tension of the plastic locator tab on the priming station. I had mine a little too tight after switching calibers and had the same problem. YMMV
