norbs007
I may just be itching to buy right away. But based on the table below, should I wait for the Nikon D300 to come out? JThompson
Give me a 20D and Canon Ls and I can produce an image as good as any with 5k bodies... low light is a little harder, but I'd still put myself above 99% of people with the high dollar bodies. I've done it time and time again. Hell, when I went to rowdy concerts I'd take a pair of 20 Ds. Noway I was going to put my 1DMark II and 5D in with those slam dancing beer swilling morons. I even had one dumb blonde think my camera bag was good to stand on to get a better look. She fall down an go boom!
EricW
Norbs, The universal consensus that I'm hearing is that the Canons are far sturdier than the Nikon. That coupled with the delta in glass prices is pretty much sealing the deal on a Canon for me.

IMHO Nikon still has a lot of work to do before I would consider it a viable option. I'm not bashin them and don't care to debate the issue on this forum... it's just my two pence. EricW
Norbs, Did you order the D300? Any anticipated delivery?
AikiDale
This is not the best composed picture I've ever done but check out the lack of noise. D300, f3.2, 1/40th second, available light, no flash, hand held ISO 3200 and the only processing was to reduce it in Lightroom from 6.4 megs to 494k to upload the smaller file:
norbs007
Norbs,Did you order the D300? Any anticipated delivery? I actually went with a Canon and got the 40D, no regrets whatsoever. Tried out a friends D300, great camera controls are well placed and the additional features are nice. Heard a lot of praises about the high ISO; also learned from an insider that Sony makes the sensors for Nikon. I'll buy one if I can afford one, but would rather wait for the anticipated 5D Mark II. Still learning though.
Bill Rosenthal
We go the Fuji route with the S5. The best file produced for the least amount of money. Nikon body with better software and sensor. It's not all about the megapix. My 2/C http://www.bytheseaphotography.com Bill
