Hornady .224 68gr. BTHP Recipe

I just bought a box of .224 68 grain Hornady match BTHP. I will load it for an AR15 with LC brass. Does anyone have a starting load in H335, Tac, or Varget? I can't find any starting loads for this bullet. Thanks for any help out there.

i use the recipe's for the 69gr SMK for my 68gr Hornady loads. They seat farther into the case but i dont see any adverse effect as far as pressure is concerned. I think they Hornady bullets are more accurate and consistent than the Serria.

68s haven't shot for me but SMK 69s have. Using WSR primers, Win brass, 2.250" oal, 25.2 Varget seems to work. As usual, start with a lower powder charge and work up.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking along the same lines as that. In the 55 grain my AR likes the VMax better than the 55 grain Sierra FMJ.

I really like that bullet, and as much Varget as I can get in the case seems to be the ticket. Mine ended up really liking a compressed load near max, no pressure problems at all for me.

I have been seeing good results with Ramshot TAC ( about 24 grs). It meters so much better than varget.

I have had amazing success with Benchmark, using 69gr Sierra's, 68gr Nosler so I am sure this will fly with the Hornady 68gr.

I use what manual says for the top load, this is the magic load, 23.5grains. You get more velocity out of Varget and a couple of others but this is unreal accurate. I will take 50fps less for this load anyday.
