Exodus
What is current thought on barrel profile for 3-gun? OD behind gas block? OD in front of gas block? What is good weight to shoot for on a 17" to 18" barrel? Thanks X
Jaxshooter
I think the JP mid weight barrel is the best compromise all the way around. Check out thier web site..
STInky
I just got an 18" Ultra-Light from JP.....and it's great. The rifle (prior to adding optics) feels almost as light as a Carbon 15, only better balanced. Very quick from target-to-target.
kellyn
It does not matter. Whatever YOU like is what is important. Barrel profile will not make any real difference. My preference is medium to heavy. Does that mean that lightweight profiles are no good? Absolutely not.
cking
I don't like the thin then fat barrels. I've had compass lake make me a couple of different 18 barrels. The standard Hbar, and then a .750 barrel. The lighter barrel is an easier gun to transition with. For off hand slow fire groups the Hbar settles better. So you got to decide what you want and try some off hand shooting with both.
benny hill
About 18" long, about .825 under handguard, .750 gas system, & .725 front.
kurtm
I like .750 all the way from the step down past the chamber to the end of the barrel.
