Large Rifle Primers

I have read on other reloading forums that small rifle primers can SAFELY be used in pistol brass, such as .357 Sig. My question concerns the use of large rifle primers (not magnum rifle) to reload .45 ACP. The primers are the same size but I'm sure are more powerful than large pistol primers.

Large Rifle Primers are taller than Large Pistol Primers. They will not normally seat below flush in a pistol primer pocket. DO NOT use large rifle primers for the 45 Auto.

OK, maybe I stand corrected then. I had used lots of Small Rifle Primers for .40 and they worked flawlessly.

Thanks for your quick response. I think I'll err on the side of safety and leave the LR primers for their intended purpose. Saving the price of a carton of primers is not worth the risk of damaging my Glock or losing part of my hand,

Guy is of course correct. Not the same as switching between small primers.
