bkeeler
What does anyone think about putting adjustable sites on a Kimber Pro Carry 4" 1911? Thinking about doing this to my pro carry never have seen the adjustable sites on a 4" 1911. Would like to use the wilson adjustable like I had put on my Kimber Custom 5" 1911 with the bomar cut. bkeeler
2alpha
Personaly I like adj sites on just about everything. No reason not to do it except that you probably have that huge Novak style dovetail for the original rear sight. It'll take more work and money to put a bomar style dovetail in there, might involve welding but it can be done.
EricW
You may consider this blasphemy, but Springfield makes an adjustable sight that fits the Novak dovetail. I think it's about $50-60.
bkeeler
Thanks all. My gunsmith cut my other kimber to a bomar cut with no problem. I will be going to it on the pro carry. Thanks again bkeeler
Duane Thomas
The Wilson, though a great sight, is awfully big for such a small gun. Consider the MMC adjustables. They're much more compact, and fit in the existing Novak dovetail. Click here for more info: http://www.mmcsight.com/colt1911.htm
tightloop
I thought the reason you had rear sights was to see them. If I have to search for them, it isn't good. Get the big ones.
Duane Thomas
When I say "big" I'm referring to the overall size of the sight, including that big, long lozenge-shaped front portion on the Wilson's. The MMC's give you just as generous (or as tight - they're offered in a choice of rear notches) a notch as the Wilson's. It's just the overall size of the sight, front to rear, that's considerably more compact.
