Ledge
I was given 8 pounds of number nine by a friend who doesn't reload anymore. Looking at all of the specs that I have found, it really isn't an optimal choice for 40 s&w, being more of a magnum powder. Has anyone loaded it at all in 40? Any recommended loads for Limited 10 major? I'll also be shooting production soon, but I'm thinking this isn't going to be of any use there. Harmon
i used accurate arms starting load with a 180 grain lead bullet.. i used a precision 185 in place of the 180 cast lead. NASTY recoil and nasty powder fouling..all around nasty sell the powder to someone who can use it and buy the titegroup or universal clays for major 40s Harmon
Larry White
Several years ago I shot a .40 open gun and tried several powders. I did not try AA#9 but AA#7 was too slow and very dirty. I cant think that AA#9 would have any place as a powder for .40.------Larry
revchuck
Ledge - Simple solution here...buy a Magnum revolver of some kind so you don't have to waste that free powder.

sargenv
If you had a 10mm you might be able to use it for heavy bullets (180, 200, 220's). Otherwise what they said.. 357, 41, 44, 50 AE would be good uses for AA #9. Vince
Larry White
I seem to recall that #9 was a good choice for .30 carbine.--------Larry
Ledge
I think revchuck has the most sensible solution. Thanks for the input from all.
