In Peter Kasler's book "Glock: The New Wave In Combat Handguns" published in 1992 it mentions and shows a picture of the original STEEL un-captured guide rod. Once I find my copy of the book I will scan the relevant page for your perusal. BTW, I actually do own a first generation G17 (Never Modified) that was purchased NIB back in 87 (Kept at one of my homes in Florida) that has the OEM un-captured steel guide rod. As to the captured guide rod design that became standard in 1991. Please refer to the attached PDF file time line for additional details. If memory serves me correctly first generation Glock guide rods were made of Steel.

Have you considered a G20 with a 40 S&W barrel for Limited?

Flex, The issue that I have run into with the G20 and Double Stack 1911's (Para P16, SV and STI) that are using SAAMI SPEC 40 S&W cartridges has been with the magazines. The cartridges tend to mess up within the magazine. Have you not experienced that problem? It has been my experience that when I use 40 S&W long loaded cartridges the aforementioned problem does not manifest itself.

Just curious what COAL are you using? I'm using a G20 configured with a 40-10mm KKM barrel with 40 S&W Long Loaded (+1.190 OAL) cartridges and I have yet to experience any failures.

Proraptor, I'm glad that you have found them to work for you and may they continue to do so over time... BTW, I find that part of your response regarding the final disposition of my two GlockWorx triggers to be rather interesting since I havent stated what I have done with them and only a GlockWorx insider would have known that they were never returned for refund/repair... The Arredondo +3 and 0 Base Pads for a G17 sized frame will fit in the IDPA Box. I use them for ESP with the JP Enterprise magwell on my G22 and G17. On a side note if you are using the JP magazine well you really dont need the base pads,

When it comes to Competition Glock Parts the dealer that’s most knowledgeable is Matt at Custom Glock. For the widest selection of Glock factory and after market parts it’s a toss up between Lone Wolf and Brownells. Regarding the posters comments about OX Cart shipping its been my experience that you can have items shipped by the aforementioned retailers using a faster means than an Ox Cart (I.e. UPS Ground, USPS First Class) the only caveat is that you have to pay more for the additional service.

I would agree with the comments about the G20. I have found mine to be a much softer shooter than my S_I guns.

If memory serves me correctly you will need to use the Wolff springs with the NHO Guide Rod since it is thicker than the factory/ISMI springs.

I currently own Briley, KKM and Bar-Sto barrels for Glock. To date I have had the best results with KKM. The Bar-Sto (G34 9x19) worked well with Minor PF loads I simply couldn’t trust it with Major PF Loads way too many case failures even though I was using new brass. I have never experienced that problem with the KKM or Briley. On a side note I have just ordered a Lone Wolf barrel for my oldest sons G17 after we put a few thousand rounds through it I will post a our results.

I have several large frame Glock (I.e. G20/21) magazine wells from Glockmiester, California Competiton Works and NHO. I prefer the NHO Aluminum for IDPA (G21) and I use the Stainless for USPSA (G20).

Racine, I feel your pain. While Tom is a nice guy and I have spent thousands of my hard earned dollars on his products/creations he has been rather slow in delivering the goods of late. It’s my opinion that if he wants to be successful and continue to grow his business he is going to need to hire additional staff to meet the demand for his services/products.

Radical, I glad to hear that you haven’t experienced issues with fat rounds when using you Dillon Die in 357 SIG I unfortunately can’t say the same. I use KKM Barrels which is why I go through that two step process I mentioned in my earlier posting. Regarding using 357 SIG vs. 40 S&W for an Open Gun to me it’s an answer in search of a question. From a reloading standpoint it’s a bit more work (Limited bullet choices due to Qglive issues). For those that choose to use factory ammunition due to travel or lack of reloading equipment it reminds me of 10MM ammunition not every firearms retailer carries it and those that do charge more for it than they do for 40 S&W. Magazine capacity is the same for both 357 SIG and 40 S&W. So while it’s nice from a bragging rights perspective I really don’t see the ROI in building one for competition.

While at first it sounds enticing to use 357 SIG the amount of extra work one has to do when reloading far exceeds the benefit. For example I normally have to size them with a 40 S&W die like Lee or EGW to remove the potential fat round that forms with that brass especially if its been fired from a G31 or its equivalent. After going through that step (Using a 650) I then resize (using a 1050) it again with the Dillon 357 SIG Die (To my knowledge thats the on Carbide die available for this cartridge). That in my opinion is way to much work I would rather use a 40 S&W or 9x19 Major. BTW I own two 9x19 Major Open Glocks from SJC and Novak.

The JP Enterprise Extended Magazine release uses the original G20/21 magazine release they just tap it and add the tear shaped pad to it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but to my knowledge there is no Factory Glock Extended Magazine Release for the G20/21 series.

Works well with the factory basepad (Doesnt require using the thumb) and I also use the Pierce +2.

The biggest issue with 9x19 Major in Glock's is the limited amount of COAL you have to work with when working up a load aside from that there are no major issues. BTW, I own 9x19 Major Glocks from Novak and SJC.
