9mm Dies For 38 Super?

Can I use standard 9MM dies to handload 38 Super ammo? I see that the shellplate, buttons and the powder funnel are the same for my 550B but the resizing die has a different number. TIA

Nope...... I tried the same thing! 9x19 is a tapered case, and the 38super is a straight wall case. You will be overworking the super case by sizing it down to the 9x19. Hope this helps....

call EGW they make a superb die...fixes alot of problem reloading using common

dies. but EGW has a special one that fixes bulges on the brass...i bought all EGW

dies.! buy the best equiptment all the time.

Hi Mark,

Nope...... (borrowing the above answer for 9x19 & .38 Super) 9x23 is a tapered case, and 38 Supercomp is a straight wall case. You will be overworking the super case by sizing it down to the 9x23. Hope this helps....

It overworks the case if you size it all the way down with a 9mm die.

Some ppl have success with sizing with a Super die at Station 1 and then at Station 2 [of a big press like the 1050] sizing 9mm with the die backed off to only squeeze the top 1/2 of the case. Gives you a little more bullet pull.

If you only have one sizing station, like a Square Deal press, use only the Super die. I learned this the hard way.
