1911user
I'm looking at buying a FLGR for my single stack 1911. STI has a 1-piece guide rod with a disassembly hole but it's advertised as "in the white" while none of the other brands do. I assume that means bare steel. Does this need to be treated (blued?) for use? I'm looking for a decent FLGR with the disassembly hole already drilled; nothing special or expensive. Joe D
Check out www.brownells.com for a good selection of guide rods. None of mine have holes in them.
wide45
I've been using a Nowlin guide rod in the white for 5 years or so. If it really bugs you, hit it with some cold blue. Keep it greased, and forget about it.
