  1. I understand the weight limit on the package- I'm just trying to get my head around why some will ship both in one container and others will not. 2 haz-mat charges likely means the powder and primers ship from different locations. I assume midway still does this. I'm not aware of others with separate haz-mat charges (unless shipping tracer bullets or something incendiary which have to be separate from powder and/or primers).
  2. AD is right. That shellplate is from a Dillon AT500 press. It allowed the AT500 press to work as a turret press before you started upgrading it to a full 550B setup. It's not really that old; maybe 10-15 years at most. I forget when the AT500s were produced. They were designed as a way to get a full 550B press but spread out the up-front purchase costs by doing upgrades to the basic AT500 press. The standard shellplate that came with the AT500 covered the 380acp/223, 9mm, 38sp/357mag, and 45acp/30-06 caseheads. A Cowboy shellplate was available that loaded 44-40, .444 Marlin, .45 Colt, .25-20, .32-20, .44 Russian, .44 Colt, and .44 Special/Magnum. You likely have this one. A 3rd plate was available, the Accessory Rifle shellplate, which loaded: .30-30, .38-55, .25-35, .32-40, 7.62x39, 6mm PPC, .22 PPC, Std Belted Magnums, 45-70, and 7.62x54R.
  3. I don't know about magical, but it is worth some effort to obtain IMHO. I have 2 of his holsters and several mag pouches. They aren't for sale (unless people start offering 1/10 oz. gold coins... ). I do find his belt holsters somewhat better than comp-tac or blade-tech since they don't lock onto the trigger guard but opinions will vary on what's important. His holsters do make for a very smooth draw yet hold the pistol securely; years ago, I decided that was a very nice combination of features. I hope his 2 month shutdown and backlog clear-out lets him be more consistent on deliveries in the future. Yes, I like his holsters that much and have always paid full price for his gear.
  4. I installed a choate shorty (police, plastic corncob type) fore-end on my 870 when installing a 6 round plastic side saddle for home use. Just don't get your hand caught between the fore-end and front of the receiver; it'll get slammed hard when the action is pumped... BTDT and had the blood blister to prove it. FWIW a 6 round plastic side saddle is not very compatible with 4-at-a-time weakhand reloading on an 870...
  5. $50 yearly for normal access plus another $30 for skeet range access. $100 range maintenance fee when joining. There are no additional daily fees or skeet range fees (just provide your own clays). It's a pretty good deal for the area and not heavily used. No action pistol bays unfortunately.
  6. I don't like how they corrupted the symbolism for the painting of a V. The good guys always painted the V (for Victory), until now. The first time it was painted in the original was a powerful message about fighting tyranny. I'll watch and see how the series continues, but prefer the original at this point. It's nice to see the 2 from Firefly. Don't count Alan Tudyk out yet; IMDB shows him in more episodes....
  7. With the case feeder in use, the press needs to be mounted solidly to a bench that doesn't move. That'll solve part of the case feeding issues and is a good idea for any press. If the cases are hitting the top of the case funnel as they come out of the feeder, you may need to close up part of the case feeder opening so they drop directly into the funnel without getting tipped. This is usually a pistol caliber case issue. It's been awhile, but I think I used part of a business card duct taped to the outside of the feeder bowl. If cases are coming out the top of the case feeder, you may putting too many in at a time. They aren't designed to be filled to the brim.
  8. Only the Browning shotguns have the autoload feature.
  9. Accurate Iron has done 3 M&P trigger jobs for me; very nice work! A good custom trigger job on an M&P will beat anything coming from the factory.
  10. I've had trouble with the orange followers choate includes with the mag tube kits for 870/1100s. Out of 2 examples, they both were a bit too large in diameter and want to stick especially if the shotgun is hot. The rest of the kit has been fine, but I'd be looking for a different follower. Scattergun Technology makes a good one for a few dollars.
  11. Leave production as is. It works! Any of the tweaks listed would reduce the attractiveness of the division to some of the current shooters. As it is currently, production is a good division for common concealed carry pistols chambered in 9mm, 40, and 45. That practicality traces back to the very roots of USPSA/IPSC. The minor scoring forces an emphasis on accuracy and the 10rd mag limit forces good reloading technique which I believe to be a good thing for practical pistol usage. The growth of the production division shows it is good and should be left alone IMHO.
  12. You adjust the dillon crimp die body (screw in or out slightly) to change the crimp.
  13. I had a similar issue with brass from 9mm blazer brass ammo not sizing enough in a hornady 9mm sizing die. It was thin brass. I switched to a 9mm U-die for sizing cases to be used with 0.355 bullets; no more setback problems.
  14. The Dillon trimmer sizes the outside of the case at the same time it trims. What it does not do is expand the neck after sizing. That's the purpose of the sizing die in station 5. The decap die goes in station 1 because it should be stronger than a normal sizing die for decapping tough crimped-primer cases. On the second toolhead, a decap die in station 1 would insure the flash hole has no media stuck in it. Optionally, a neck size die could be used to help case neck alignment as well as clean out the flash holes.
  15. AMC (American Motor Corporation) Pacers and Gremlins for everyone...
  16. I'd talk to the store manager/owner about your concerns. If they don't take it seriously, I'd talk to a police detective or friendly LEO. As described, it is suspicious and potentially serious. You might want to procede quickly since most places don't keep video for long. I doubt they'd just give you the video though.
  17. Daniel Horner - 1st semi-auto Kurt Miller - 2nd semi-auto Phil Strader - 3rd semi-auto not sure about open.
  18. Minor correction: shipping loaded ammo or primed brass is easy; shipping explosives and hazardous material is difficult to do legally.
  19. Just finished doing that. Firefly was awesome. I still like the movie more, but watching the show and rewatching the movie added a lot to it, just like you said. I kind of like the series better, but there is 5x of it compared to the movie. You've stumbled onto what I consider a rare gem of entertainment. The Firefly/Serenity combo is a treasure to be enjoyed and shared. There are many subtleties within the series as well as the movie. Wait a few months then watch them again. It'll be even better than the first time. You should get fitted for your honorary brown coat. You're part of something special.
  20. Size a few pieces of brass then seat bullets skipping the expander and taper crimp stages. That should identify if it isn't being sized enough or the mouth is being expanded too much. One other possibility is you've recently started using different brass with thinner case walls. I ran into that on 9mm using a hornady sizer. It was only one brand of brass that caused the issue, but I switched to a U-die sizer. The extra sizing solved the problem and I avoided having to sort cases by headstamp.
  21. You could use a universal decap die in station #1. It will ensure the flash hole is not blocked. I use a Lee collet die (special neck sizer die) in station #1 to both ensure a clean flash hole and lightly neck-size to better align the case neck if needed. Seems to work well.
  22. The movie was a nice end for a great series. Watch the movie again after watching the Firefly series. Many subtle things/topics relate back to the series and make the movie even better.
  23. It's an advertisement for a training school that, I'd esitmate, 95% of this board would NOT be allowed to attend. I suggest it be removed to prevent another mil/leo vs. everyone else argument. If it is to stay posted, then maybe Crosshairs Inc. should become a sponsor/dealer on BE.
  24. I completely understand. They are the only shipping company that I refuse to use. In my case, management was absolutely no help in getting a package delivered. Two weeks later, the youth rifle stock was finally delivered; a week after my son's birthday.
