.45 Load For Steel Challenge

any body got some good recipes for a steel challenge load for .45 using 320 or titegroup?

My plan is to use my SS for Steel Challenge type events.

I am using 230 grain bullets and Titegroup.

Get some Berry's 185HBRN ( hollow base round nose). It has the profile of the 230gr fmj bullet but is 185grains. Load it with CLAYS or VV310 and you will have a really fine load. That bullet with either of your powders will work well too. I would put a 10lb spring in the gun and load the ammo up until it will lock back the slide on the last round and call it good!

That is what I was thinking; use lighter bullets.

I fiund that the230 gr. Star FMJ loaded with Clays does a fine job on steel plates. The same powderalso does well with the 230 gr. Rainier RN.

seems like 155 grain SWC and 4.8 grains of CLAYs shoots pretty good, though some guns HATE semiwadcutters.

the velocity is about 900 fps so it gets out there quicker than a 230.

I have used 4.3 to 4.6 gr. Clays withthe 186 gr. Rainier FP. Both are mild loads the 4.6 gr. knocks the plates down with a bit more authority.

WST also burns very cleanly and is excellent with both lead, plated and FMJ's.
