chp5
There's some old threads on Glock grip reductions, but many don't have the pics up anymore. I'm interested in DIY Glock grip reductions. Any pics or advice? Mad Scientist - if you're out there - have you ever done these? Thanks!

Any pics or advice? View this thread, http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=33049 , it's my grip reduction. It takes a very steady hand and good bit on your dremel tool. I used a high-speed steel cutting bit and it is very clean.
chp5
Thanks Tank, but I don't see any grip reductions on that thread.
iainmcphersn
Looks like an undercut to the bottom of the trigger guard but I think chp5 was looking for a reduction to the backstrap, ala Robar. Here's a link to Brownell's how to guide: Glock Grip Reduction Edited March 13, 2006 by iainmcphersn
tank69
Thanks Tank, but I don't see any grip reductions on that thread. Sorry Cy, when you say "grip reduction", i'm thinking the backstrap and finger guard. If you look at the hi-res pics on that the other thread, you can see where I trimmed away the trigger guard and "beaver tailed" the back grip. This allows me, with fat hands, to get a higher grip. The Brownell's article above is pretty intense of a project, but if that's what you are looking for, it should be worth it. Smokie
Here's done some cutting on my grip. Before i used a Hogue handall, but this feels more comfortable and a super grip. http://users.pandora.be/smokie/IMG_3305_2.JPG http://users.pandora.be/smokie/IMG_3306_4.JPG [edited to just links, becasue the pics were too big and they "blow out" the screen] Edited March 14, 2006 by Flexmoney

chp5
Smokie, Did you actually reduce the grip or just stipple it? Thanks for the pics.
Smokie
Smokie,Did you actually reduce the grip or just stipple it? Thanks for the pics. A friend of mine did it for me, it's a first generation grip. He did some cutting and afterwards the stipling. It's about 5 hours of work when all done.
Clay1
ghost21, I've seen that type of effect done with a soldering iron. Can't say how Smokie's grip was actually done. Have to be careful or you could burn a hole all the way through.

Experimenting was done on a loadhelp for loading Glock mags, it's the same plastic. I will see if i can get a pic with the different stipplings. Here's another one from mine : Stippling

chp5
BTT BTW - has anyone handled a Glock grip worked on by Southpaw Custom (Daniel Tripp)? They look pretty cool. Joe D
I like the SP grip reduction. I shot one of his G21s for about a month before Scott bought it. He does good work.
