Jason Beaver
I'm setting up a G34 for production, can anyone tell me if the Lighting Strike Aluminum Trigger is Legal for USPSA Production?
sfinney
No. External modification (you can see it).
Jason Beaver
You can see the barrel as well but it is ok to change the barrel and not the trigger. This is the rule but it seems unclear about the trigger. 21.4 Action work to enhance reliability (throating, trigger work, etc.) is allowed. diehli
It's not unclear. You can't change the trigger, but you can change the barrel and the sights. No point in arguing.
Clay1
Very clear: barrel yes, trigger work yes (internal), different trigger no.
TDean
I don't know about VERY clear because there is room for interpretation. "21.5 External modifications other than sights not allowed." You are NOT allowed to do external mods other than sights, right? ..wrong. The rules then go on to tell what other external mods are allowed. "..21.6 Aftermarket grips which match the profile of the OFM standard for the approved handgun and/or the application of grip tape or rubber sleeves is permitted. Modifications to grips, other than previously mentioned, not allowed, such as grooves cut to reach mag release or size reduction..." Because "trigger" isn't specifically mentioned in 21.6, it would seem to indicate that anything other than the stock trigger (externally) would be illegal. 21.4 does mention triggers but only as "action work". Can perfectly legal "action work" be extended to include modification of the externally visible portions of the trigger?
Gregory_k
can not use the Al trigger. example
Crusher
Well considering one modification that has been outlawed is re-locating a pin hole in a STOCK trigger, I woould say a complete replacement is a NO GO.
Flexmoney
21.3 of Appendix US D9 allows for and defines replacement barrels for USPSA Production. On "trigger work" that shows externally, any question of that should have been cleared up by the recent NROI Ruling. http://www.uspsa.org/rules/nroi_rulings.ph...on=edit&indx=22 The LS is certainly an external mod under the ruling. Not legal.
