X-line/Geppert trigger adjustment

Unless they've changed, the pre-travel is adjusted via the two tabs on the curved part of the bow.  The set screw is used to adjust the over-travel.

 

The "screw" that is vertically in the middle of the trigger adjusts the length of the trigger when the trigger is not installed in the grip.

This is correct. Plus be careful just trying to shorten the pre travel. You may disable the half cock safety function.
