ysrracer
I'm loading .38 special with Federal small pistol primers on my 750. It's started crushing primers. Is there a timing adjustment to make sure the case is centered over the primer bar cup thingy? Any other thoughts?
Boomstick303
Look through this thread on some of the part descriptions I will discuss. While this post discusses the Primer Slide Actuating Rod for primer drop issues mostly this Rod is also critical for positioning the primer for proper alignment to the case for insertion. At least it did on the press I worked on for a buddy. The set up of the Primer Slide Actuating Rod is critical for dropping and placing primers for seating in the proper position. If you performed a maintenance cycle or had the press hung up where you forced the press to operate I imagine you could possibly bend this rod, or even move the clamp at the top of the Rod that holds the rod to the Primer Magazine shield. I had a buddy that was having both primer drop issue and was crushing primers and it was all related to the alignment and proper operation of this Primer Slide Actuating Rod. While I do not own a 750 I learned a lot working on my buddies, and I was able to get his to operate flawlessly. Let me know if you have any questions. Boomstick303
Also make sure the Spring assembly that helps seat the primer is assembled correctly. Incorrect assembly/stack-up of this part can caused crushed primers as well.
