JD45
All trapshooters know that The Grand is moving to Sparta,IL this year. The range is going to be absolutely huge. Look at the gallery on their website: http://dnr.state.il.us/worldshooting/home.htm They are building bays for things other than shotgun sports, but there is no mention of any sort of practical pistol events being there. The place is too big for USPSA not to be there. Somebody needs to make some phone calls.
davidball
The picture with the 12 side by side bays is impressive . . . but the bays look narrow. Looks like it has potential . . .
SRT Driver
Rumor has it that with the "new" semi-auto / assault weapons ban being pushed through the State legis., which makes anything with a recoil spring or gas system a Class 4 felony, the ATA Grand event might walk somewhere else. It's great that the ATA takes a stand!!
TriggerT
Isn't great that the state with PASA Park ,and now this new shooting facility, is one of THE MOST anti gun states in the U.S.! Here's a question for you, with Chicago trying to get the Summer Olympics, how would that work with the proposed weapons ban? Sorry for the thread drift. XRe
Looks like it's a real nice facility... You'd think we could get something like that built here in the great state of Texas... 'Course, Tulsa isn't *too* far away, but.... how would that work with the proposed weapons ban? I guess it might affect pistol events? Seems like all the rifle and shotgun events are shot w/ manually operated guns of some sort (over/under shotguns, bolt action rifles...)??? Viggen
Practical needs to distance itself from states like Illinois and not help fund such anti-gun areas, not move more things in that direction. If phone calls need need to be made it is to move out of Illinois, unless Illinois(Chicago) comes to it's senses.
