LNL- How to remove stuck bushing?

Sometimes when removing dies from my Hornday L-N-L the die comes out, but the bushing

does not. I have been able to get the bushing out using a pair of vice grips, but it

leaves scratches on the bushing. Is there a better way?  And is there a way to avoid this problem

from happening? Thanks.

I use channel locks and cover with tape.  I reduced the occurrence my making sure the lock ring is fairly tight against the bushing, very rarely happens now.

Tighter on the lock ring for sure to avoid it in the future. And tape or rag between the pliers and bushing.
