ysrracer
I'm not a gunsmith, and I don't play one on TV I shoot a S&W 627. My buddy convinced me to buy a range rod from Brownell's. The pin that fits down the barrel is .346, the pin that fits thru chambers is .357. A difference of .011. I cleaned my gun, put a little oil on the range rod/.346 pin, pulled the trigger and held it back, and slid the range rod down the barrel. On two or three chambers I get a slight "tick" as it goes in. The rest slide in freely. Now that I know this information, what do I do with it? I shoot coated bullets, and the gun doesn't lead excessively. Thoughts?

This will affect accuracy, I'm surprised you didn't say your bullets were tumbling. Edited February 22, 2022 by AzShooter

No tumbling, just a very little leading around the forcing cone. For me, I can keep a 4-5 inch group at 25 yards, double action. That's about the same as I can do with a 1911. alecmc
In my experience with the "new" style extractors you need cases in the cylinder for the timing to properly register.

Thanks, I'll try that.
