rgoberle
I needed to remove a little material from the edge of the safety. Does anyone know what media I need to use for blasting to match the finish on the safety?
Braxton1
80 screen glass beads are pretty standard for matte finishes. I guess a good follow-on question would be "Is that safety 'originally blued, with a hard chrome finish' or is it stainless steel?". If it's originally stainless, go in the direction that you're headed. If it's blued with hard chrome, you could probably send it to one of the hard chromers (like PCPEMark on this Forum) and have it re-chromed. Aircooled6racer
Hello, if it is stainless you can use some green Scotchbrite to give it a brushed look. If you have a blast cabinet turn the pressure down to match the finish. Thanks, Eric
rgoberle
Thanks for the input, the safety is stainless. I tried 80 grit glass beads at 80 psi and it was a little too aggressive to match. I then tried some sanded grout at 60 psi. This gave me the correct surface finish but it was a more dull than the factory finish. The factory finish had a bit more polished look. Trying to figure out how to keep the blasted finish but make it a bit brighter.
