Steel Load For G34 115fmj And Hp-38

I know that HP-38 is the same powder as WW231, can anyone share their recipe for a good steel load?

let me get back home, from work and i'll get a few for you. i shot hp38, for steel loads, and had good luck with it. as a start if you go to 38 auto(not 38 super) loads you can find some info i found them in an older hornady book i had.

sorry it took so long, my old load was 5.0 grs of hp38, with either the 115 or 125 gr bullet. accuracy was good, and i did quite well with it at the american handgunner shoot offs. hope this helps. trapr

If it is for SC and NOT falling steel, Start at 4.0gr with the 115s and 3.8 with 125s. (103PF). Your gun might need more to run reliably, and once you get your load set up, Shoot at least 300 rounds through it to make sure it will make it through a match without cleaning. If it gets sluggish towards the end of the 300 I would bump up the load .02gr for reliability. I would also recommend a ISMI 13lb spring as well. Trapper's 5.0gr load would be great for falling steel and SC if you want one load! Good luck, DougC

shot the 5.0 of HP-38 and 115's, more than enough to cycle reliably. I'm running the 13 lb. ISMI and a tungsten guide rod I might try to back down on the charge weight a little and see how far my brass flies. Thanks guys!
