The rumor around the water cooler is that the original 1911 in .45 was designed around a round length of 1.245 so folks load long to reduce the likelihood of feeding issues with other calibers. I like to load 9mm at 1.125 and .40 at 1.2 and make sure my extractors are tuned properly and I don't have any feeding issues. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
