jskd82
I just installed a Springer Precision extended mag release on my XDM and now it is releasing my mag while drawing from my holster. Is it okay to cut away that portion of the holster or dremel it away? Is this against any rules? or any other suggestions would be appreciated, thanks. louu
Is it a Kydex holster? You can just heat up that spot with a soldering iron or a spot torch and push it out a little bit
Demp223
Just heat it a bit and reshape it to clear by flaring the lip away and then back up. I also just did same release as you on XDm 5.25 9mm.
Demp223
Just modify the area right around the release. Push away and down so the “ L” gives more clearance.
jskd82
Thanks guys! didn't think of doing that, I'll give it a try.
Demp223
If you don’t know wrap a cool wet towel below area you don’t want heated. A heat gun on hi works fastest to spot heat the area. A hair dryer will work but takes longer and will warm more of the.holster. Just be careful of the trigger area that it doesn’t heat and reshape or you’ll have to fix that too after. jskd82
Heated it up with a heat gun and bent it out a little, works great, thanks!
ChuckS
Moved from USPSA Rules forum to Gear & Accessories forum... (While there was a question about rules, this thread turned into a nifty how-to for modifying the Comp-Tac holster. The rule book will tell you the holster requirements. There is no restriction on who does the work on the holster!)
