outerlimits
have flown with guns and ammo all over the US-always went fine. but i have never flown with just ammo. tsa regs don't really spell this out, and southwest just covers as if you are also flying with a gun. so, anyone out there have any experience flying with ammo only? i'm just curious if you have to declare it. yoshidaex
Flew many times with a combination of guns and ammo, ammo only, guns only, etc, etc. Declare it. If you don't, they'll call you back to the ticketing counter and ask why you didn't declare it. At that point, they'll weigh your ammo and let you take 11 lbs only. Any other weight above 11 lbs will need to be surrendered to the airport police. That was on one of my domestic flight. HI5-O
What yoshidaex said, if you don't hear the page, you bag won't get on the plane. Just declare it with the airlines.
SlvrDragon50
Just make sure it's in proper packaging and not loose.
bluedevil008
I've flown many times with ammo in check-in bags and never declared it.
