skeeter
was in a local gun shop when i noticed a smooth bore, rifle sites, chock tubes 11-87 barrel. he only wants 100 bucks it looks like just the ticket for 3 gun but don't know if it will work on my 1100. shred
From what I've been told, 1100 and 11-87 barrels are not interchangable. I don't know why.
Intel6
No, the barrels are not intended to be interchangable. The only real difference between the two is the pressure compensating system that is built into the barrel itself on the 11-87. When I first got my 21" VR 11-87 Barrel I didn't have an 11-87 to put it on, I only had my older 1100. NAturally I compared the barrels to see the differences and could find very few. The only thing I could find different was possibly the inside of the ring (not sure what it is caled) where the gas comes through. Everything else was dimensionally the same. I even installed it on my 1100 and everything fit and the bolt locked up correctly. I figured I woudl take it out and see if it works. It fired fine but didn't cycle at all. I figure they may have made the shoulder inside the ring deeper so if it is put on an 1100 the rubber ring won't be forward enough to get pushed on by the gas. I suppose I should try an 1100 barrel on my 11-87 to see what it does.
